All of the arguments for euthanasia fail. Even if I agreed that people have some kind of moral right to kill themselves (which I don’t), euthanasia wouldn’t be needed to exercise that “right.” You can already kill yourself. The idea that people need some kind of state sponsored system just to commit suicide is totally incoherent, even on its own terms. And those term are totally deranged because in truth, again, there is no moral right to suicide. But that’s almost a separate question, or at least a question further downstream. When it comes to euthanasia, the first and most immediate question is not whether people have the right to kill themselves, but whether the STATE and the MEDICAL INDUSTRY have the right to kill people. Should doctors be in the business of deliberately killing human beings? Should we have a bureaucracy for suicide? These are the real questions. And even if you (wrongly) think that humans have a moral right to murder themselves, you should still be able to see why doctors and bureaucrats ought to have no role in it.

It is a staggering decision to make the eliminated European teams play each other on Tuesday, in some absurd "third-place play-offs".

@MiguelDelaney It's also ridiculous imo that the playoff qualifiers were seeded. They were already seeded for the group stages. They all achieved the same thing despite some having an advantage from the first seeding only to then receive a second advantage from a second seeding.

@raggedlines This is what gets me the most. Ive a 7 year old. Last night was a chance to bring a massive game back to Dublin and give kids something to remember. They had it too, but threw it away.

Smoking is cool, it has always been cool and will always be cool. You shouldn't smoke because it's absolutely horrible for you. It's why we all quit, but it doesn't change the fact that it's cool. Caveat: It is extremely uncool if you're fat. It just makes you look like an out of control animal with no self control and you look like you're going to drop dead. Gotta pick one poison at the most.

@BonesawMD 100% My son had gotten into the habit of cursing his bad luck. "Knowing my luck, it won't work out." Now, whenever we wonder about some future event, I always say "Knowing our luck, it'll turn out amazing!" Trying to rewire his outlook.

"You're so lucky" I've realised this is one of the best things someone can tell you. Those words are a potent spell that casts a severe blessing upon your life. Malignant ego makes people immediately fight back to deny it, but the correct response is "Yes, I truly am. Always"
