Hi @AldiUK how does 1kg of carrots only weigh 622g. No wonder when we put it in the bag at the self checkout it didn’t record correctly. I can reasonably accept a 5% margin if error but a 38% weight difference is criminal

China is strong in manufacturing, and they’ve had some software successes too. But building a competitive GPU stack is an entirely different level of difficulty. They’d need developers to support them, consumers to trust their drivers and compatibility, and somehow keep pace in an industry rapidly shifting toward neural rendering, AI reconstruction, frame generation, and ray tracing. Meanwhile they’re competing against companies that have spent decades building software stacks, tooling, engine integrations, developer relations, and enormous amounts of real-world data. Everything people are hoping this company will do, AMD is already doing. AMD has been in the market for years, offers stronger price/performance, undercuts Nvidia heavily, and has a vastly more mature software stack than Lisuan could realistically achieve anytime soon, yet still only holds a fraction of Nvidia’s market share. They’re going to struggle domestically for the same reason Apple remains so dominant in China despite strong Chinese phones, except this market is even worse. Chinese phone makers still had Android as a backbone. There is no equivalent here while Nvidia, AMD, and Intel have spent decades building moats. There’s basically zero chance they compete with Nvidia at the edge of what people actually want from a gaming GPU within 3 years. People want the features to actually work consistently. A graphics card isn’t a phone camera where “good enough” is enough.

Are you living under a rock? GPU performance and graphics are becoming increasingly AI-driven. That is exactly why Nvidia is positioned to steamroll the rest of the GPU market. Their AI infrastructure gives them a massive fixed-cost advantage relative to everyone trying to catch up now.

But the idea that people are expecting a respectable competitor in the GPU space, let alone disrupt Nvidia is fucking hilarious. These are a completely different product stack with different consumer decision-making.

@CollapseAnime If they can get their RAM supply chain working, then having the most advanced chips won’t be as important. Consumers might buy a 64gb card a couple generations behind vs. a 16gb NVIDIA card at the same price. NVIDIA could be only accessible to the Enterprise market

China's GPU being $400 USD and the performance of a 3070 isn't the point (you can replicate this with a 5060). The point is they're catching up and with their own domestic ram production, they'll likely make models that are way less constrained on ram as well.
