If you focus on the problem, you will find ten more problems. But if you focus on the solution, you will find ten different ways to solve that problem. Shift your focus not your goal😀 #randomthought

i am leaving bangalore and moving back to my hometown - faridabad. and for the first time in a long time, i can actually hear myself think. bangalore was kind to me. it really was. it gave me the job, the friends, the love of my life, every room i wanted to be in. and somehow i became someone there. but i was working on someone else's terms without any freedom and there was literally no life of my own. my mind, my body, my ambition - all running the same loop and coming back tired. bangalore's startup culture is real. competing with the valley, building serious things, all of that is true. but everyone's in the same race and no one's clearly winning. i didn't want to be one of the many. i wanted the road less travelled - run alone or with a few, and actually get somewhere worth getting to. so i left the job. came home. doing what i should've been doing - being the eldest child, sitting with my grandparents, travelling, making time for the things i want to live, not just accomplish. leaving was the hardest decision i've made. it’s also the one i had zero second thoughts about. that's how i knew. if you're young and ambitious, go to bangalore once. let it shape you. it's worth it. but if it ever starts taking more than it gives, leave. nobody's going to give you permission. bangalore gave me more than i could chew. i'll always be grateful. but something inside me was dying. always grateful to everything i got from this city <3 it’ll always have a piece of my heart! here's to whatever's next.

Early in your career, startup investing does feel like a pure gamble. But once you’ve spent years in the industry, you start seeing patterns... which problems are actually worth solving and which founders have what it takes. With the distribution and network you already have, you’re in a sweet spot. You can diversify intelligently: some cash + equity stakes in products you genuinely believe will take off. It only takes a few winners to make the entire portfolio worth it. Most sharp people have way more great ideas than they can execute themselves. They spot strong founders for the rest, back them, and offer light guidance when needed. Done the right way (with real pattern recognition + diversification), it’s not gambling anymore. Most people do treat it like one though... and that’s exactly why they lose. Thought?

In your 20s/30s, a message will find you… an invitation to an Impromptu! meetup. When it appears, don’t scroll past it. Say yes, step out, and meet those meant to cross your path. From that simple choice, a new idea may be born, or an old one may find its way back to life.

🧵 If you’re in your early 20s, hungry, and actively looking for hustle culture (with real upside, not fake “startup vibes”), here’s a 2026 list of companies I’d aim for from India. Remember, this isn’t a “safe” or “complete” list ;) 🔖 Bookmark for later

Jo platforms mai 4-5 saal phele build krna chahta tha, it’s doable now because of Infrastructure companies that we have now. Because of AI such ephemeral infrastructure is here and that was a missing piece to build teaching platforms. Yes, it can be done via regular infra too but that costs a lot + engineering. AI infrastructure is not just for AI products, you can build anything on top of it. Creativity is your trait.

🔥 New Topic in DSA for Bunnies! 🔥 We’re moving on to Recursions, a topic that’s either pure love or pure frustration for most learners. We’re going to make it click... How the call stack really behaves... to base cases that define structure... to recursion trees that help you visualize what’s going on... you’ll finally understand why it works, not just how.

Looks like it is time to revisit the concepts once again, from scratch. If you missed DDIA, first cohort. Be ready, we are going to go over DDIA 2nd Edition soon!

The 2nd edition of Designing Data-Intensive Applications, by @martinkl and me, is finished and sent to the printers! Ebooks available next week, and print books in 3–4 weeks. Sigh of relief. 😅 (BTW, this is a good opportunity to support your favourite local bookshop!)

🚀🚀 FREE cohort to learn AI Engineering… open for all… to join, understand what it is: I just wrapped up an awesome journey with Designing Data Intensive Applications. From February to August, I ran a public learning cohort, sticking with the book all the way through, it was the first time we ran a cohort this long. We finished something this solid, and really got what the book was teaching. If you haven’t read it yet and you work with big data or want to understand how data is stored and managed in the cloud, I highly recommend you get into it. Trust me, it's super useful before you jump into advanced topics like machine learning or using models for big data tasks. For me, it’s like learning to drive a manual car before moving to automatic… getting the basics right just helps everything else make sense later. Now, I’m excited to start my next learn in public series with Team Shiksha. If you’re new, this is where we pick a topic, break it down from the ground up, and level up together as a community. This time, I plan to get handson with AI engineering. It’s a big, fast moving field… things like LLMs and AI agents are everywhere. To be honest, there’s no fixed plan yet. We’re going to explore, try to understand how these systems are built, how they’re trained (even thinking about how we might train our own), and how people use AI agents in work and life today. If you’re interested in joining us, drop a reply “Agents” below. I’ll send you an invite to our Discord. (Ensure you’ve followed me, so I can DM) Planning to kick things off later in August. Let’s learn together. 👀🙌 If you have read so far, help me reach new folks, 🔂 for good karma.

🚀 ScaleUp by JioHotstar | Deep Tech Meetup Hey everyone! I’m super excited to share that we’re hosting ScaleUp by JioHotstar, an in-office tech meetup where our engineers (including @PracSharma, @jiten, @cereal_learner) will talk about how we build and operate systems that power millions of concurrent users across the globe. This is where we’ll go behind the scenes of video streaming at scale… the systems, the decisions, the trade-offs, and a few battle stories from production 😄 📍 BLR | JioHotstar – PTP Office 📆 16th January 2026, 5:30 pm 🎟️ Limited seats | No walk-ins - Registrations are open for engineers, builders, and tech enthusiasts who love deep tech conversations. - Profiles will be screened before we send out the final invites. 💡 Why this matters: If you’ve ever been curious about how large-scale streaming, personalized recommendations, or dynamic ad systems work under the hood… this is your chance to learn, connect, and discuss with the team that builds it! 👉 Register to attend: luma.com/y7g1oxf6 Let’s meet, learn, and geek out together — this one’s going to be special! 🙌
