Thank you to @MarshaBlackburn for your ongoing commitment to survivors! Her new AI plan includes 3 RAINN-endorsed bills: the GUARD Act to protect kids from AI chatbots, the DEFIANCE Act to give survivors of AI-generated non-consensual image abuse access to justice, and the Senate version of the Kids Online Safety Act. These bills would keep kids and adults safer on and offline.

Survivors of #sextortion in #Wisconsin will soon have more access to justice with Senate passage of AB 923! This bill creates a civil cause for sextortion survivors, giving them a vehicle for justice other than a criminal trial, as well as making it easier to bring civil claims without sharing their information publicly.

Virginia passed H.B. 1020 and it's headed to the governor! This bill will restart the civil statute of limitations for survivors of child sexual abuse (#CSA) if new evidence, like DNA testing or photographs, is unveiled. @GrassleyPress @SenatorDurbin The ECCHO Act would establish a new federal crime targeting online networks that coerce children into engaging in sexual acts or harming themselves, others, or animals. Penalties would be up to 30 years in prison, or a life sentence when coercion results in suicide.

@GrassleyPress @SenatorDurbin The Stop Sextortion Act would criminalize any threat to distribute #CSAM. It would also increase penalties for other sexual abuse offenses by up to ten years if the perpetrator also engaged in sextortion involving CSAM.

Just this morning @GrassleyPress and @SenatorDurbin’s children’s online safety package, which includes the Sentencing Accountability for Exploitation Act (SAFE Act), Stop Sextortion Act, and Ending Coercion of Children and Harm Online Act (ECCHO Act), advanced through the Senate Judiciary Committee!

We're thrilled to say the SAFE Act, Stop Sextortion Act, and ECCHO Act have been reported out of the Senate Judiciary Committee! It’s time for U.S. law to catch up with new forms of child exploitation. These bills will bring our laws into the present and ensure accountability for predators is not lost to the past.
