So the “Cockroach Party” Instagram account earlier followed several well-known left-liberal and Islamist-sympathetic voices like Dhruv Rathee, Ravish Kumar, Sonam Wangchuk and others making their ideological leaning and ecosystem quite evident. Then suddenly came the predictable “victimhood drama”,Abhijit takes down his account and website, creates outrage, pushes the narrative of suppression, and once the account returns, they begin posturing with the usual “no system can silence us” theatrics. Conveniently the same Cockroach party account also unfollows several of those politically loaded cockroaches like Dhruv Rathee and others in an attempt to manufacture an image of neutrality after realizing people had started noticing the pattern. This entire sequence looks less like organic activism and more like a carefully curated perception management exercise the classic strategy of provoking outrage first, then repackaging oneself as an independent voice once the optics begin to backfire. The irony is that they seem to believe India’s Gen-Z is politically naive enough to not notice these calculated shifts, selective outrage, and ideological signalling games.
