@hubermanlab @readswithravi Andrew, you're the second person in almost 15 years who mentioned/read that book. I don't feel lonely anymore. 😀

Dance like no one is watching. Write like no one is reading. Sing like no one is listening. Code like, well, management be watching, so be careful.

@readswithravi @poorbjorn It's indeed a good book. I gave a talk on systems thinking at a conference after I read about the green revolution in this book. Basically, the chapter gave me the idea and I expanded that.

As Mark Manson said, learning more is a smart person’s favorite form of procrastination. I try to read books from different genres that help with this case. Mostly to satisfy my curiosity. I am currently reading How Innovation Works by Matt Ridley (picking after enjoying his previous book The Rational Optimist), stories about these innovations different fields and how it correlates are very fascinating. If I am not enjoying the book after couple of chapters, I just leave it alone. Maybe give a revisit later if I think it is worth it. There are many good books to read out there.

Be honest, when is picking up a new book to read actually just waste of time? For me: - When I rationalize that I need to do more research, when what I actually need to do is to take more action. - When I read yet another book on a subject I already know well enough ( like reading yet another book about stoicism when I actually would be better of practicing the philosophy..) - And like now, I really need to finish editing my video review…instead I picked up a book.. Do you have any other examples? @AlexAndBooks_ @readswithravi @MattKaramazov

@ProfFeynman Even if you don’t know whether the universe is bigger than your view of it, being humble and teachable costs you nothing.

Be humble. Be teachable. The universe is bigger than your view of the universe. There's always room for a new idea.

@techgirl1908 Love this. Every creative field has been automated in some way, yet people still read, write, cook, sing, and run for the love of it. Tools do not remove joy. Losing meaning does. If coding still feels like exploring and challenging, the joy remains.

The most successful people I know aren't the busiest. They're the most protected. They have an almost ruthless ability to say "no" to things that don't align with their true goals. You don't need a better to-do list. You need a better "what-not-to-do" list.

Every few weeks, I see the same poster doing the rounds: “10 things that require zero talent.” But the fact is, nothing meaningful at work actually requires zero talent.

The detailed AWS incident report is out, and it’s worth a read - DNS records managed by 2 systems; a race condition led to regional record getting unset - EC2 lease establishment was borked as it depends on DynamoDB - fluctuating NLB health checks leading to EC2 DNS entry purges

One of the most common signs that something has been written by chatbots is the expression “It’s not just X, it’s Y”. E.g. “It’s not just about helping others, it’s about growing as a person.” What are some others?
