Whenever any scheme or benefit is about to reach the small farmers, these big players grab it first. They stockpile fertilisers well in advance, forcing small farmers to buy them at black-market rates. Now they are coming to Delhi to protest against the USA-India FTA, which is not even finalised yet.

West Bengal’s growth story over the last five days speaks for itself. Kolkata opens a historic new trade route to Nepal Syama Prasad Mookerjee Port has flagged off the first-ever direct EXIM container train to Biratnagar, Nepal, via Jogbani, creating a faster, more efficient and cost-effective logistics corridor for Nepal-bound cargo. The inaugural train carried 40 containers of Australian canola imported through Maersk. The new multimodal rail corridor is expected to reduce transit time to nearly 24 hours while lowering logistics costs through reduced port demurrage, container detention and road transport. Beyond strengthening India–Nepal economic ties, it firmly reinforces Kolkata’s position as the eastern gateway for international trade. 2. TCS and Wipro campuses back on track Following comprehensive safety audits, construction has resumed on two of New Town’s marquee IT projects. TCS is developing its 20-acre Bengal Silicon Valley campus, expected to create nearly 25,000 direct jobs, while Wipro has restarted work on its second 50-acre campus. Together, these investments further strengthen West Bengal’s emergence as eastern India’s premier technology and innovation hub. 3. Maersk expands its Kolkata presence A.P. The project will create jobs, deepen the state’s manufacturing base and strengthen Bengal’s engineering ecosystem. 5. Asansol–Durgapur Aerial Metro moves a step closer The West Bengal government has entrusted RITES with conducting a feasibility study for the proposed Asansol–Durgapur Aerial Metro under the region’s Smart City development plan. The study will assess the project’s technical and financial viability. If implemented, the aerial metro will significantly improve connectivity between Asansol and Durgapur, ease traffic congestion, strengthen last-mile connectivity and transform urban mobility across one of eastern India’s most important industrial corridors. It has the potential to become a major catalyst for regional economic growth while improving the daily commute for thousands of people. 6. Landmark wage agreement for 1.5 lakh industrial workers In a significant step towards balancing industrial growth with worker welfare, a tripartite wage agreement has been signed for employees in the sponge iron, ferro alloys, induction furnace and rolling mill industries. The agreement will benefit around 1.5 lakh workers through an average monthly wage increase of approximately ₹2,000. For the first time, it also incorporates enforceable provisions relating to EPF, ESI, gratuity, factory compliance and pollution norms, while providing a framework for future wage revisions after implementation of the Wage Code in Bengal. The message is clear. Trade is expanding. Global companies are investing. Technology infrastructure is scaling up. Manufacturing capacity is increasing. Worker welfare is improving. Urban mobility projects are moving ahead. Employment opportunities are being created. West Bengal is steadily reinforcing its position as eastern India’s economic engine, driven by modern infrastructure, industrial expansion, global connectivity and inclusive growth.

The Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP) Programme has been implemented through a phased, scientifically validated and consultative process involving NITI Aayog, automobile manufacturers, Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs), Automotive Research Association of India (ARAI), Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM), Indian Institute of Petroleum (IIP) and other technical institutions. India has achieved 20% ethanol blending five years ahead of the original target after more than two decades of phased policy development, stakeholder consultations, scientific evaluation and capacity creation. Since ESY 2014-15, the programme has generated foreign exchange savings of over 1.97 lakh crore, substituted nearly 316 lakh metric tonnes of crude oil, avoided approximately 952 lakh metric tonnes of CO2 emissions and generated more than 1.66 lakh crore in additional income for Indian farmers. Government has not received any widespread or substantiated complaints from vehicle manufacturers, automobile associations or consumer organisations regarding engine failure, fuel pump issues, corrosion, water contamination or other performance issues attributable to E20 fuel. But if the entire govt has to brought down for a paper leak, accident, or because 1000 people protest, that's nothing but an attempt at regime change. > Such attempts end up poorly for the country and its people. The FCRA bill is listed for consideration and passage in the Parliament during the Monsoon Session beginning July 20. This new FCRA Bill prevents NGOs from receiving foreign funding by restricting foreign entities, such as intelligence agencies or unregistered groups from indirectly interfering in India's internal affairs through non governmental organizations. Strangely, on the very same day.... Hundreds of buses will transport farmers from Punjab to Delhi for the "Desh Bachao Morcha" mega rally at Kisan Ghat. They are opposing the proposed India U.S. trade agreement which has not even been signed yet. Also, on the same day, the Cockroach Janata Party is also holding a Sansad Chalo march to the Parliament on July 20, demanding the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan.
