(1/x) Those of us who love #pocus often use it to rule out pneumothorax. But how reliable is this approach? So-so. We found only moderate interrater reliability to detect lung sliding among clinicians.

How do you carry your handheld ultrasound around the hospital ? ( I’m soliciting both practical anecdotes and savage social media criticisms)

@Aidan_Baron @CStreiler If you don’t want to wear a bag, Carharrt makes some great cargo pocket scrub pants with a place for a belt (recommend black scrubs and the black 5.11 nylon utility belt so it blends in)

The issue is a lot of slings have that Molle rig “scary military” look. Osprey is a good neutral looking choice without that. Other sling packs I’ve considered but haven’t tried: North face Borealis , Kavu Switch Slinger, 5.11 LV10 sling pack (big 13L and $$), Patagonia Atom and their larger Stealth Sling (also big 10L and $$). Mountainsmith and Osprey also have some Lumbar packs (they are NOT called “Fanny Packs”)

I prefer the Osprey Daylite Sling, although the current model doesn’t seem to have a very strong attachment point, I prefer the previous generation that has a sewn in attachment point on each end of the strap. Nice, non-abrasive interior with a pocket to separate the gel packets and the tablet (8” tablet, the 12” ones are a stretch)/probe; fits Kosmos or Lumify comfortably. I’ve had an 8” tablet and 2 Lumify probes as well. Right now I can even fit the 8” tablet, Lumify probe and a Mindray wireless probe (TE Air) pretty comfortably.

@ross_prager I know this isn’t the point of your post Ross, but is that a Sonosite? That’s the best cardiac image on a Sonosite I’ve ever seen

Sometimes during #POCUS we see stuff we aren't expecting (or sure what is going on)... This patient was scanned for subacute dyspnea. What's going on here? (see next for poll) #CardioTwitter #echofirst
