@LordoftheSquad @SportsStatsFan Thats the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard. Matt Barnes seemed to care what Isiah thought because he asked him. People would listen to Isiah more than a random kid. Isiah also said that MJ was so good that sometimes the jordan rules made no difference.

@LordoftheSquad @SportsStatsFan I’ve never seen that, but regardless, you were acting like this rumour was created by some random kid on tiktok when in reality it was created by the best player on the team that had the most success stopping him.

@LordoftheSquad @SportsStatsFan Yeah they charted it starting from 1990, when he was already like 6 years into his career and he had lost to the pistons 3 years in a row. I’m not saying he could never go to his left, but multiple players have said his handles weren’t good when he was younger.

@LordoftheSquad @SportsStatsFan I’m not saying Isiah Thomas is perfectly objective but you act like some random dude just made this up. It came from the best player on the team MJ struggled against the most. Kenny Smith also said young MJ didn’t have good handles.

@random49108 @SportsStatsFan The kid used this in the video I know where it’s from. If Isiah Thomas is your source for objectivity then it’s no need to go back and forth lol.

@SportsStatsFan He obviously improved on it, but the 1st part of the “jordan rules” that the pistons created to slow him down was no force him to go to his left. Isiah Thomas has talked about this. Kenny Smith has also said young MJ’s handles weren’t great and that he didn’t like going left.

Myth that Jordan couldn’t go left was always a low IQ response from young nba fans (mostly Bronstans that need to lie) and it’s been debunked by actual data gathered at realGM forum. He was more prolific going left in ISO than top players today in ISO

@LordoftheSquad @SportsStatsFan You don’t even know where this came from. It’s not from some random guy, it’s from Isiah Thomas. Thats one of the main points of the “jordan rules” that helped the pistons beat MJ 3 straight years. vt.tiktok.com/ZSxgxdChA/

@VinoBuCketZ Shaq was better in all 4 series in 2000, 2 or 3 of the series in 2001, and 3 of the series in 2002. So thats 2 or 3 series out of 12 where Kobe was better than Shaq. And Shaq was better in 2/3 WCF’s, and better in all 3 NBA finals.

@random49108 Its not „a better series or two“. It was always the west playoffs, and then let shaq eat vs the centerless east weak teams which resulted in finals mvp. Nba finals were the west finals back then…

@back4firstime 4 great games where Shaq was up against 2 of the best big men of all time doesn’t outweigh 6 full seasons, all 3 championship runs, and all 3 NBA finals, where Shaq was clearly the top guy. Kobe was great but he was clearly the #2 during that 3 peat.

@NBACARTALK @Wat659199650431 If he was so unguardable and has a counter for every strategy used against him, then he should have better stats. It’s objectively true that he was easier to guard than LeBron, because he scored less, on worse efficiency and created for his teammates less.

@Wat659199650431 Do you understand the definition of UNGUARDABLE? It mean for every defensive strategy you have a counter, for every time u are double teamed u are able to still score, it doesn’t mean STATS ya damn dummy

@NBACARTALK Nobody blames MJ for being swept by the celtics twice in a row because people correctly recognize that his team was significantly worse than his opponent. When LeBron beats a 73-9 team that proceeds to add another top 5 player, he loses to that team twice and it’s a problem?

@ApexJonesHACKED More possessions doesn’t = harder on the body. The game was so much more static, half the time it was 8 guys one one side of the court and 2 guys in iso on the other side. There is a lot more off ball movement. Guys should play more today, but it isn’t easier on the body today.

Another clown take. In the 88-89 season, the pace of play (100.6 possessions) was more than a possession higher than the 25-26 season (99.4 possessions) yet 38 players played all 82 games (10.8%) and 25% of the league played at least 80 games In 25-26, 18 players played all 82 (3.1%) and 4% of the league played 80 games Even if you remove the 277 players who did not play 50 games in 25-26, still only 7% of the remaining 305 players played 80 games So to recap, in 88-89, despite a higher pace, 233% more of the player base played all 82 games and 525% more played 80 games. And even if you remove every one of the 277 players in 25-26 who did not log 50 games, 88-89 players still played all 82 at a +69% rate and played at least 80 at a +216.5% rate Stop tryna shit on the old game to make excuses for why the modern game is so soft.
Mavs(New)CBA@CBAMavs

It makes perfect sense why players could regularly play 82 game seasons back then.

@daexlin @laraetmb @Summer__Crane 1. The original author said in his best games, he couldn’t even get 50%. Not that he should shoot 50% regularly. Huge difference. 2. No context justifies 1 player taking 28 shots per game on below 50 TS% over a full season. Thats just not great basketball.

@laraetmb @Summer__Crane 1. That’s the number the original author used so that’s what I’m going on, if you’re not up to speed don’t chime in 2. You should go inform yourself on AI’s situation so you can get a better understanding of why he inefficient instead of just looking at numbers without context.

@daexlin @Summer__Crane If you can’t even have average efficiency, then you shouldn’t be shooting that much. His size is a shit excuse. If a center was too short to get a lot of rebounds, you wouldn’t just excuse it, he simply wouldn’t play as much. And he was inefficient for his era.

@Summer__Crane Expecting him to be super efficient at that height and size is dumb, and expecting it in that era with the rosters he had is even dumber. Especially to the degree of shooting 50% or better consistently, which is a mark most guards and wings don’t hit regularly anyway. Be serious.

@Keibettt @Summer__Crane He had below average efficiency for his era. If you’re a scorer, how efficient you are obviously matters. Scoring 30 on 28 shots isn’t impressive.
