ZenJournal v5 is finally on the App Store. It has been 8 years in the making — including countless failed attempts to rewrite it with the latest SwiftUI, and the unforgivable indie-dev sin of making yet another journaling app. But this is the one app I keep returning to.

@john_malone CompSci not Apple’s forte? :) You should just use asc cli with your agent.

@randomor Ok, so I'm trying to get a very basic Apple App Store thingie built on my mac mini. I think you need a masters in education to follow there instructions. I do not have a masters in education. :)

@levelsio @TermiusHQ Why not just use codex for iOS? I’ve stopped using termius, when there is a proper app. Are you on Claude code?

Apple went from the inclusive educational message "Everyone can code" to "No one should vibe code, not on my app store" pretty quickly... instead of solving discoverability, it choose to gatekeep...

Our master plan is to release better and more efficient models. And also to release better products, week after week. Oh and get more compute too. Together with spending too much time on x. How good is this plan?

The biggest bullshit move by DHS in its history. So everyone on a O1 or H1B visa would have to stop working legally in the US, go back to their country and wait for years of backlog? This includes top scientists in our universities, founders of billion dollar companies (at least 3 just in our portfolio would be affected by the way). And if we look at individual countries it becomes even more bs. Indians would have to wait decades. Russians don’t have anywhere to go (there is no US embassy in Russia, hello?). This is the worst imaginable way to disrupt important work for the country and pretend you’re fighting some loophole.

Sounds inevitable. Not sure about the west vs east angle, and even within china there are dissidents, its like X and reddit in optimistic vs pessimistic meter. It’s sad especially when you consider the audience here should be the most well positioned to take advantage of AI and adapt while the overwhelming loud noises are fear.

Scariest video I've watched this week America's next generation actively booing the most transformative technology our species has ever seen In China grandmas line up to get OpenClaw installed In America, supposedly our most educated people BOO even the mention of AI The west simply does not stand a chance if this continues We have a massive AI marketing problem in this country and nobody is doing anything to fix it Tomorrow Meta will announce 8,000 layoffs. They will blame it completely on AI They won't blame it on their irresponsible hiring in 2021 or extended elevated rates or horrible market conditions or bad inflation No, in order to not tank their stock, they'll blame it on AI College students will read that and learn to HATE the technology They'll protest outside datacenters holding ridiculous signs that say "SAVE OUR WATER NO MORE DATACENTERS" Politicians will see this and run on blocking data centers just to get a few votes All of it will be a cycle that leads to America losing to China This should be a warning sign to all frontier labs and CEOs: messaging matters. And if your messaging doesn't change the West is cooked
This Week in AI@ThisWeeknAI

3 commencement speakers were booed at the mention of Artificial Intelligence (Video) 1. Eric Schmidt, Google CEO 2. Scott Borchetta, Big Machine Records CEO 3. Gloria Caulfield, Tavistock Development VP

Elon's Jan 2016 prediction: summon your car from across the country within ~2 years (by 2018). Oct 2016 follow-up: full autonomy LA-to-NY demo by end of 2017. Those specific cross-nation unsupervised drives haven't happened yet as standard capability. FSD has made huge leaps (v12+ handles long complex routes far better than early versions), but remains supervised in 2026. Timelines were optimistic; real progress has been steady and compounding.

.@elonmusk told @pmarca that he could build Westworld in 5 years with Optimus: “I said, ‘When am I going to get Westworld?’” “He looked back at me, totally serious, and said, ‘5 years.’” “I said, ‘I don’t think you’re understanding my question.’” “He said, ‘I know exactly what you’re talking about. 5 years.’” Via @joerogan

I wonder if the Antigravity team has designers. Couldn't believe my eyes today haha. Very flattering to the Codex team.

Considering canvas free is probably never going to be back after the hack. Debating if I should send the prompt to create an actual LMS that is: - a bento box layout that allow instructors dynamically choose modules to add - that is like Ning but for instruction with modules and assignments and a gradebook - that allow one-click deploy to cloudflare Would be an interesting #edtech experiment…

@randomor @JagCesar I made ScriptureAI web doing this exact thing, my main “user” that wanted it on android wasn’t happy because she didn’t have an Apple account, but I don’t have time to do android dev nor do I care too much so it works alright but the users will still bottleneck it

Our apps have used CloudKit as backend since forever, but we've decided it's time to move on. We already migrated Lysten, our podcast player, and next up is Ambre. Check out our blog post for details on why CloudKit rocks, and why we're leaving it. 👇 blog.ambi.se/leaving-cloudk…

Apple CloudKit team, take note. Nothing salacious, just years of dev-ex neglect and lack of bug fixes driving away another developer from CloudKit despite it being nearly almost always free.

@JagCesar Thanks for sharing. I may try that route at some point, as I don’t want to ever host any data myself. CloudKit can be so much more if only Apple spent more time investing in it.

@randomor Absolutely possible, but also requires every user to set up an Apple ID. That doesn't make sense to be honest :/
