Manitoba Premier Wab Kinew is cutting the tax on groceries in his province. Today, we again pressed on Scott Moe to do the same — a move that would save struggling Saskatchewan families $25 million per year. Instead, Moe cracked jokes in the Legislature. Saskatchewan has the highest financial anxiety in Canada — I don't think that's funny at all. Good on you, Premier Kinew, for stepping up to support people. Gas prices are $1.60 per litre in Regina and nearly $1.63 in Saskatoon this morning. People can’t afford this. Scott Moe is taking in significant additional revenue from surging oil prices coming as a direct result of the conflict in the Middle East. Today, I am calling on him to use that revenue to cut desperate Saskatchewan drivers a break by lowering — or completely eliminating — the gas tax until things return to normal. It’s time to save people money. Saskatchewan people report greater financial anxiety than anywhere else in Canada. It’s time for change.

Yesterday's Speech from the Throne proceeded at a reduced scale, with all celebratory elements removed from the event out of respect for the victims of the tragedy in #TumblerRidge, and in solidarity with their family, friends, and neighbours. The 2nd session of the 43rd Parliament opened with a tribute of remembrance for those who were killed, and condolences for a grief-stricken community. The Speech from the Throne was delivered by @LGWendyCocchia. I want to extend my heartfelt thanks and appreciation to @BCLegislature staff who made many last-minute adjustments with professionalism and sensitivity, and to invited guests for your understanding.
