@imetatronink @MyLordBebo Parallel to this, I see another unsustainable trend in the US... the relentless expansion of the welfare state. So far, US has sustained as a military superpower because it's first rate economy was not overburdened by welfarism. I wrote about it here: swarajyamag.com/world/the-expa…

Gold is down ~25% from its January record - during a war. So much for the safe-haven reflex. What's actually driving it: real yields. The 10-year sits near 4.5%, the Fed's rate cuts are dead after a hot jobs report and 4.2% inflation, and a zero-yield metal has a real cost again. A strong dollar piles on. The tell: gold is falling despite an active Middle East war and sticky inflation - the exact setup it's "supposed" to love. In the short run, gold trades on rates and the dollar, not headlines. The catch for the bears: it's still up ~30% over 12 months, and central banks keep buying. This looks like a violent correction from an overbought peak - not gold's funeral.

Today, I’m releasing never before seen intelligence revealing new evidence of past US government funding for more than 120 biolabs in over 30 countries, including Ukraine. In support of President Trump‘s Executive Order to end federal funding of dangerous gain of function research around the world, and increase transparency and accountability, ODNI will continue working with partners across the Administration to identify where these labs are, what pathogens they contain, and what “research” is being conducted. odni.gov/index.php/news…

Eyal, I like your work, but there's nothing automatically incriminating or even suspicious in people -- all of whom I dislike, mind you -- traveling to Russia. Russian State TV is also always looking to bring non-Russophobic Westerners on too, while their guests appreciate the promotion before a new audience. Again, I'm not a fan of Candace, the Tates, or MTG, at all, but please, you and others like you need to stop discrediting yourselves over Russia. You can hate them, Putin, etc. without losing the credibility that you've earned from your factual criticisms of the "Woke Right".

The British are embracing the ‘hard right’ for exactly the same reason that the AfD now leads in opinion polls in Germany. They voted for conservative parties who promised to take their concerns re mass immigration seriously - and the mainline conservatives sold them out.

An infographic tabulating 26 indicators over the last 12 years has been going viral - I verified the data and benchmarked these indicators against a 7% real GDP growth rate, and 20 out of 26 held up. India has indeed done very well to grow through a period of geopolitical, macroeconomic and domestic political economy crises and pushes. Even so, in key areas such as transportation (including ports and airports) and energy (especially coal production - which is a travesty because India has vast coal reserves), growth has been below target or just about sufficient. But what would it take to grow output at 10% a year - the elusive double digit growth number? The numbers spell out that massive policy reforms and liberalization will be required.

@StreetSensex True that. It means gold's support over the next year will come from how well central bank purchases hold up.

@ranjansr With the latest data, I barely see any FED rate cuts this year (likely just 1 with trump pressure). Personally, the period of rate cuts is over. All central banks will look for rate hikes going forward - which is bad for gold.

172K beat the 88K consensus by nearly 2x. Even more telling: household survey added 149K. Both surveys agreeing means this isn't a statistical fluke. The Fed had one cut still on the dot plot. After this print, that cut just got pushed from September to December - or off the table. The dovish case died on a Friday morning. What this means for India: Fed holds longer → DXY stays bid → rupee under pressure → FII bond flows to India lose the rate-cut tailwind they were betting on. The tax exemption helps. The Fed not cutting hurts more.
Holger Zschaepitz@Schuldensuehner

US economy blew past expectations to add 172,000 jobs in May vs the consensus forecast of +88k. Household survey was also healthy, w/number of employed people rising 149k in May vs Apr, so unemployment rate unch at 4.3%. "This jobs report will make life even harder for Warsh as his preferred dovish policy pathway is even more difficult to justify", @knowledge_vital says.

India's population is about that of all the Americas (North and South) together combined with Western Europe. Almost five dozen odd countries together have say 1.4-1.5 billion people, same as just India. Now imagine if you wake up and read about all the terrible news in the entire Western Hemisphere (ex-Africa, but also adding some regions). Murders, rapes, accidents, scandals etc. And you form a view basis that. This is what is happening to people who are consuming too much news off social media where virality needs are pushing algorithms (no Indian oversight here, only American - and for TikTok, Chinese) to accentuate the bad. Please get a perspective. An accurate one, not a ugly one or rose-tinted one. Just a balanced and contextualised one. And please take care of your mental health.

It was an inside job! We’ve watched our @Wikipedia page completely defaced & vandalized for 5 years that rendered @HinduAmerican unrecognizable. This investigation by @AshleyRindsberg @npovmedia blows the cover off of what appears to be a concerted attack on HAF by a cabal of 4 editors—two of whom are apparently tied to Audrey Truschke & the fringe group, Hindus for Human Rights. Trangabellam, Kautilya3, Lightex and Shainshah121 are responsible for 80% of the entire content of the HAF wiki page. Who are they? ✅Trangabellam created, protected & shaped Audrey Truschke’s Wikipedia page while they defaced HAF’s with unsubstantiated slurs. ✅Lightex actually disclosed “past work with “Hindus for Human Rights,” created that group’s wiki page (against wiki’s own rules) & then attacked HAF’s wiki page changing the lead to cast HAF as a “far-right nationalist organization.” ✅ Shahinshah121 added false allegations that HAF is “Hindutva” & “under investigation by the DOJ for acting as a foreign agent” while promoting Truschke’s “South Asian Scholars Collective” within hours of it being formed. ✅ Kautilya3, the 2nd most active editor of the HAF page, erased all information that provided an HAF perspective to allegations, including that “HAF has absolutely no links” to various foreign orgs. He then added the line that “HAF repackaged the Hindu nationalist agenda in the language of ‘Hindu rights’ to suit mainstream American politics.” So I know many will ask, “Why are you crying about this on twitter—do something about it.” Well, read the full article and see how one of Wikipedia’s 32 most powerful editors, Vanamonde93 blocked attempts to balance the HAF Wiki page and actually defaced it further. Watch the video below and read the full article. If this can happen to the oldest and most respected Hindu American organization in the United States, who else is in the crosshairs? Who’s next?

🚨NEW INVESTIGATION: A Fortune 500 company reportedly cancelled a @HinduAmerican training session after employees circulated its Wikipedia page. That page tells readers HAF aligns with Hindu nationalism, threatens academic freedom, and has been accused of acting as a foreign agent. We traced who built that narrative. The same handful of accounts kept appearing across HAF, its critics, activist groups, and key public figures—building an interconnected narrative that now feeds Google and AI systems. Over the past three years, a single @Wikipedia editor has gained control of every important entry concerning @AlJazeera. User: Cinaroot now controls the Al Jazeera Media Network entry, Al Jazeera English, & Al Jazeera effect entries, among others. The account has worked – with a high degree of success – to downplay Al Jazeera's Qatari state funding. It has also positioned the network as a shining example of editorial independence. Key details: + The Cinaroot account was registered in February 2023 then quickly went dormant. + It reactivated months later, 19 days after October 7 + Its first edit post-dormancy was to the October 7 entry Talk page, where, citing UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres, it pushed editors to justify the Hamas-led massacre. In our piece @thecipherbrief, Al Jazeera expert @TobyDersh and I break down what looks like one of the most effective, yet most stealthy, Qatari influence operations to date.

Ask Google what Al Jazeera is. The answer comes from Wikipedia. 40% of Wikipedia's answer comes from an anonymous editor who woke up 18 days after Oct 7. @AshleyRindsberg & I investigate how Wikipedia’s narrative about the Qatari-funded media is shaped. bit.ly/4wX0ZET

For years, major institutions have framed India and Hindus through the lens of nationalism, extremism, and suspicion. But what we've uncovered on @Wikipedia raises a deeper question: who gets to write the public record? Our investigation found that a small cluster of anonymous editors controlled more than 80% of the @HinduAmerican page. Among the findings: Blatant Conflict of Interest: The editors aggressively shaping HAF’s page were the exact same people controlling the Wikipedia profiles of HAF's legal adversaries and academic critics. Inserting False FARA Allegations: Editors laundered complaints from HAF's opponents into "facts," using demands for a DOJ investigation to falsely brand HAF as a foreign agent Administrative Silencing: An admin with supreme platform permissions deleted quotes from HAF's leadership, stripping the organization of its right to reply to allegations. Over four years (2021-2025), editors systematically erased HAF’s identity as an American civil rights group, transforming its Wikipedia page into a heavily curated dossier of accusations. Our report from @npovmedia documents how it happened. 👇

The US debt crisis is set to become significantly worse: Entitlements, interest, and other mandatory outlays are estimated to consistently surpass Federal tax revenues by 2031, according to CBO. These expenditures are projected to rise to ~20% of GDP by 2040. That would be the highest percentage on record when excluding the 2020 and 2021 pandemic period. Net interest alone is estimated to reach 5% of GDP, an all-time high. At the same time, tax revenues are expected to increase only modestly, to 18% of GDP, the highest since 2020. To put this into perspective, tax revenues as a % of GDP exceeded entitlements, interest, and other mandatory outlays by 8 percentage points in 2000. What is the long-term plan here?
