Pittsburgh Ranked Choice Voting

Anyone genuinely interested in good governance should embrace open primaries and ranked choice voting. Otherwise you’re just rooting for a team jersey.

Democrats and Republicans once again agree: there is no such thing as a "fair" redistricting plan. Now can we all agree? It is impossible to make maps "fair" with single-member districts. This is why we need proportional, multimember districts.

Anyone who wants to give alternatives to the duopoly a real chance to compete - and a more resilient, representative democracy - should be for open primaries and ranked choice voting. @Fwd_Party

Great review of existing research on consequences of ranked-choice voting, and how it may be most useful when combined with other reforms to increase proportionality and the number of parties, such as multi-member districts.

Yesterday #S1, the #ForThePeople Act, was introduced in the U.S. Senate. It lays the groundwork for #RankedChoiceVoting by helping states buy machines that count ranked ballots, and sets up a federal study on RCV’s effects. We're glad these crucial provisions are included! 🙌🥳
