If SAVE America is stripped out in the Senate, the blame will fall solely on John Thune. There’s a little thing in the Senate known as the “amendment tree.” It determines the maximum number of amendments that can be offered to any given bill. If Leader Thune deliberately “fills the tree,” he can block individual Senators from offering additional amendments—such as one to keep SAVE America attached if it is stripped out. Going based off his comments so far, Thune is planning to do this with the NDAA by offering his own version of the NDAA that does not include the SAVE America Act and “filling the tree.” He would probably plan to do the same with any other House-passed bills that include SAVE America. He is actively working against an issue that 80% of Americans support. Shame on him.

Last night I decided to live dangerously and pulled a Banquet frozen sausage and gravy pot pie out of the freezer. Folks... I ain’t had one of these bad boys in years. Y’all, I took that first bite and just about fell out. The crust was flaky and perfect, the gravy was rich and peppery, and that sausage? Seasoned EXACTLY like I like it. I pulled out a little piece just to confirm… yes sir, Banquet nailed it. I sat there smiling and thinking, “Well I’ll be darned.” Brought me straight back to being a kid and crushing those Banquet TV dinners. Turns out some things in life really do hold up! Scored ‘em 10 for $10 at the store the other day, so I figured why not stock up for those “I don’t feel like cooking” nights. Congrats Banquet, you just earned a solid A+ from your boy Steve Mudflap McGrew. I also grabbed the classic chicken pot pie (you know, the one with the peas and carrots we all grew up on).
