In a previous post, I introduced #Dimir Dawn of the Oculus (#Reanimator, #SpellAvatars?) for #MtGSoS #Strixhaven #Standard. After some iterations, have settled on this - primary change is replacing Likeness Looter with Visionary's Dance. The Looter is much worse without Moonshadow to copy, and is another threat that does next to nothing without an active graveyard; Kitsa does a significantly better job at looting given 3 toughness (also considered Malcolm), representing a source of card advantage (1 drop spell into any other spell into copy is a possible and strong midgame turn). One Eden in the manabase, because I really missed a way of recurring a milled Archaic, and Archenemy's Charm is awkward with the manabase + quite clunky in this list. Multiversal Passage can also allow a hardcast Visionary's Dance, though this I suspect is very unlikely to come up. Sideboard is quite flexible, but above all must be able to beat Rest in Peace, which stops the entire maindeck. Secondary non-gy threats, lifegain against Prowess, are all good here - my current reasoning was very straightforward, 4 anti-enchantment, some gy hate, the rest of the Duress, some countermagic, and Tishana's Tidebinder because card will save your sorry hide in a wide range of situations, but especially against artifacts or troublesome EtBs to which UB has few other outs. Is this the best against the meta and there is no scope for improvement? Absolutely not, there is much space for tuning and package building, so feel free to go crazy - boardwipes, lifegain, grindy threats, have at it! Deck feels wonderful fun to play; Dawning Archaic has that "costs less for each instant and sorcery" mechanic, which is always just begging to be broken. Would U something else be a better shell for it? Perhaps, but I am not about to register Steam Vents, if for no other reason than that is the thing to be doing.

@xcblazeMtG Loved the Kitsa route btw! Feels like the deck needs a looting low curte creature? People (me included) Gran-Gran, but maybe Kitsa is a great brew! :0 (Blocks, prowrsess and even copies!) Also im interested if going full on the graveyard route why not run Balemurk?

@xcblazeMtG Oh this is my SHIT! I play oculus ral moonshadow dimir for a while now, imho, Moonshadow is too strong not to run. ive been perfecting it for a while and i must say, Looter feels like a cut indeed. Also, why use Visionarys Dance for Discard when Resentful Revelation exists?

@ranzinzzza @FanksEoT @thatvillainjay Its strong, but i dislike izzet and mole more than control running copies of this effect. Its not like there's a bowmaster that these cards are getting around.

this mechanic fucks up the standard meta more than any UB set ever could, and we just dont talk about it

@Mfindlayjr @FanksEoT @thatvillainjay We have 3+ cards in standard rn that do the exact same thing -Instant card advantage (draw 2) -Broad card selection (Looks at top 5+) He's prolly refering to that. The mechanic being "look at top X cards put 2 in hand" Its so strong that ppl r running multiple of these effects
