🚨 New working paper with @AlthoffLukas! How will Artificial Intelligence affect the labor market? We predict that AI will substantially decrease wage inequality ⬇️ while raising wages on average by 21% ⬆️. These predictions are based on a general equilibrium task-based labor market model that we build, estimate, and apply to the case of AI. Happy to share the first draft of a paper I’ve been working on for the past year with @PicchettiPedro and @theo_rfg . We study 'single-shock' shift-shares that exploit local exposure to commodity price shocks, a common design in applied micro that hasn’t really been formalized.
