Professor Archna Negi from CIPOD, School of International Studies, @JNU_official_50, delivered a lecture at the Department of International Relations on 30 April 2026. The seminar, titled “New Directions in Climate Litigation,” focused on emerging practices in climate litigation across regions such as Europe, Africa, and South Asia. The lecture highlighted the growing disenchantment with CoPs and underlined key tensions and debates shaping different approaches to climate action and litigation. She explained how strategic lawsuits can spur climate action, drawing attention to the increasing overlap between climate litigation and negotiation analysis, as well as between international commitments and domestic policymaking. The session concluded with an engaging Q&A discussion. #ClimateLitigation #ClimateJustice #EnvironmentalLaw #ClimateAction #Sustainability #GlobalGovernance #ClimatePolicy #InternationalRelations

Instead of worrying that humanities degrees don’t prepare students for jobs in today’s world [product managers finance consultants startups], we should worry that we’ve created a world with such little value for literature, art, philosophy—anything that expresses the human soul

People can help you in many ways throughout life, but there are two things nobody can give you: curiosity and drive. They must be self-supplied. If you are not interested and curious, all the information in the world can be at your fingertips, but it will be relatively useless. If you are not motivated and driven, whatever connections or opportunities are available to you will be rendered inert. Now, you won't feel curious and driven about every area of life, and that's fine. But it really pays to find something that lights you up. This is one of the primary quests of life: to find the thing that ignites your curiosity and drive. There are many recipes for success. There is no single way to win. But nearly all recipes include two ingredients: curiosity and drive.

On this episode of India & The World, we examine what the deepening standoff between the United States and Iran means for the global economy and why India could be among the hardest hit. The breakdown in talks has kept tensions high around the Strait of Hormuz, a route that carries nearly 20% of the world’s oil supply. Disruptions here have already pushed crude prices above $100, raising fears of a prolonged supply shock. This isn’t just a geopolitical story, it’s an economic one. Higher oil prices are feeding into global inflation, straining industries from aviation to manufacturing, and forcing companies to rethink costs and operations. For India, the impact could be immediate. As a major energy importer, rising crude prices translate quickly into higher fuel costs, pressure on airlines, and wider economic stress. There are already warnings of operational strain in aviation due to surging fuel expenses. The bigger question: what does it take to break the deadlock—and what happens if it continues? From oil markets to your wallet, we unpack how a distant geopolitical standoff could shape economic realities much closer to home. @Nidhi @DavidCayJ @Ryan_Bohl @AmbMoKumar #USIran #IranCrisis #OilPrices #CrudeOil #FuelPrices #IndiaEconomy #Inflation #Trump #EnergyCrisis #StraitOfHormuz #MiddleEast #GlobalEconomy #Geopolitics #WorldNews #AviationCrisis #DeKoder #IndiaAndTheWorld #NidhiRazdan

They say academia is a "thankless" job, but then you get an email like this on a Sunday evening. A 3rd-year student from a college in Kolkata wrote to me. He felt "disconnected" and "trapped" in a coding-centric major, missing the mathematical rigor he loved until he found my NPTEL course. He didn’t just want to learn ML; he wanted to feel the philosophy and the probability behind it. He wanted to understand why, not just how. Moments like this make the "Chalk and Talk" sessions and the late-night prep worth every second. In a world obsessed with "shortcuts" and "quick certificates," finding a student hungry for first principles is the ultimate reward. It reminds me that our real job isn't just to transfer information, it’s to provide the ignition for a mind that was almost ready to give up. This is why we teach. This is what makes this profession truly invaluable.

Nothing brought down more careers than the pursuit of perfection. There is no perfect time, place, or situation to fulfill your plans. Let go of that belief and be free in uncertainty. That's what makes a good strategist. Agility beats rigidity.

In theory, consistency is about being disciplined, determined, and unwavering. In practice, consistency is about being adaptable. Don't have much time? Scale it down. Don't have much energy? Do the easy version. Find different ways to show up depending on the circumstances. Let your habits change shape to meet the demands of the day. Adaptability is the way of consistency.

IIT Bombay research shows that heatwaves over the Indo-Gangetic Plains are primarily driven by local land and atmospheric factors, rather than by hot air travelling from elsewhere. New research led by Prof. Karthikeyan Lanka, Associate Professor, Centre of Studies in Resources Engineering and the Centre for Climate Studies at IIT Bombay, shows that not all IGP heatwaves are the same, and the factors driving their origin are more local than distant. iitb.ac.in/research-highl…
