कचौड़ी नहीं, सवाल व्यवस्था पर है किसी पूर्व संपादक (संजीव श्रीवास्तव जी) का रिटायरमेंट के बाद कचौड़ी की दुकान खोलना निजी पसंद हो सकती है। इसमें शर्म नहीं, मेहनत है। लेकिन अगर यह एक प्रवृत्ति का संकेत है तो यह सिर्फ एक व्यक्ति की कहानी नहीं, पूरी पत्रकार बिरादरी के भविष्य का आईना है। सवाल यह नहीं कि उन्होंने क्या चुना। सवाल यह है कि उन्होंने और क्या चुन सकते थे? पत्रकारिता में तीन-चार दशक खपा देने के बाद विकल्प इतने सीमित क्यों रह जाते हैं? क्यों एक ईमानदार पत्रकार के सामने “समझौता” या “संघर्ष” के अलावा तीसरा रास्ता अक्सर नहीं दिखता? यही किसी पक्ष के पत्रकार होते तो राज्यसभ या किसी सरकारी व्यवस्था का भाग बनकर मलाई काट रहे होते। खैर, सरकारी नौकरी में पेंशन है। बैंकों में सेवा लाभ हैं।
प्रोफेसरों के पास अकादमिक सुरक्षा है। लेकिन पत्रकार? ज़्यादातर पत्रकार असंगठित क्षेत्र के कामगारों की तरह काम करते हैं। न ठोस कॉन्ट्रैक्ट, न सामाजिक सुरक्षा, न पेंशन की गारंटी। फील्ड में धक्के अलग, दबाव अलग, मुकदमे अलग। जवानी में वह सत्ता से सवाल पूछता है। बुढ़ापे में उसे अपनी सुरक्षा का सवाल सताने लगता है। यहीं से शुरू होता है झुकने का सिलसिला। कोई पार्टी की “अनौपचारिक सेवा” में लग जाता है, कोई आयोग या बोर्ड की उम्मीद में, कोई विज्ञापन या ठेका पाने की दौड़ में। जो युवा उम्र में नहीं झुकता, वह कई बार सुरक्षित बुढ़ापे की चिंता में झुक जाता है। यह व्यक्तिगत कमजोरी से ज़्यादा सिस्टम की विफलता है। पत्रकार के पास संविधान से अतिरिक्त अधिकार नहीं होते। वह सिर्फ सवाल पूछ सकता है, जवाब देने की बाध्यता सामने वाले पर नहीं होती। उसकी असली ताकत सिर्फ उसकी रिपोर्ट है। और उसकी सबसे बड़ी कमजोरी- उसका असुरक्षित भविष्य। इसलिए मुद्दा कचौड़ी नहीं है। मुद्दा यह है कि क्या एक समाज अपने सवाल पूछने वालों को सम्मानजनक बुढ़ापा दे पा रहा है? अगर नहीं, तो यह किसी एक संपादक की कहानी नहीं, लोकतंत्र की संरचना पर उठता हुआ सवाल है। इस पर सरकार को भी सोचना होगा। और समाज को भी।

Almost all clients of ours from the NCR Delhi region are complaining about throat rash, difficulty in breathing, eye burn issues and constant brain fog. A few of them left Delhi for 40-50 days. Even Air purifiers are not helping much. Not sure if the authorities understand this or not, this is harmful and scarier than covid outbreak.

Two Senior Professors from IIT Delhi have flagged the unnecessary spectacle of cloud seeding proposed by the government. There is no evidence to prove it works, and the negative impact it can have on our environment, especially soil and water bodies. Needless to say, it’s an expensive affair, costs Rs 1 lakh per sq km, which comes to approximately Rs 15 crores each time Delhi gets its rain through cloud seeding, given that total area of delhi is approx 1500 sq kms. And each of these artificial rains, at best can subside pollution for a day or 2. And yet, the spectacle continues in the name of governance.

Public statement by Paranjoy Guha Thakurta Tuesday 09 September 2025 Gurugram, Haryana To whom it may or may not concern and especially to my well-wishers: On the evening of Saturday 06 September 2025, the Rohini Courts in New Delhi, passed an ex parte interim injunction against me in a defamation suit filed by Adani Enterprises Limited, the plaintiff. The case concerns my reporting and my analytical articles and statements on the corporate conglomerate headed by Shri Gautam Adani, one of the richest men in India and the world. Ex parte means that the court order was passed without hearing my version of events and circumstances. This is the seventh defamation case against me filed by lawyers representing Adani Group companies from 2017 onwards that are currently pending in various courts of law, five in Gujarat, one in Rajasthan and the latest in New Delhi. All these cases are being contested. I have been a journalist for almost 50 years, and have worked for numerous organisations across print, broadcast, and digital media. I am accredited by the Government of India’s Press Information Bureau (PIB) for more than 35 years. In addition, I am an author, publisher, a maker of documentary films and music videos and an educator. I have been a freelancer for around 15 years. Along with me, four other independent journalists Ravi Nair, Abir Dasgupta, Ayaskant Das, and Ayush Joshi are respondents in the lawsuit. We are all independent journalists, who have, from time to time, collaborated and worked with one another to write and put together articles and videos. I have noted media reports that allege that I have published “false and unverified reports, aligned with anti-India interests, and have been continuously targeting Adani Enterprises … disrupted [its] projects with ulterior motives.” The reports further allege that my “interference has led to the straining of the balance sheets of the Adani Group and delayed key investment plans.” I wish to state with all the conviction I can muster that these allegations are false, unfounded, and scurrilous, and have been made without granting me a right of response. I stand by my reporting which is verified, factual, fair, balanced, unbiased, and conducted without fear or favour. I have full faith in the judiciary of India and remain confident that all the articles that I have authored or co-authored and all the statements that I have made are not just truthful and accurate but always in the public interest. I intend to vigorously contest the defamation claims made against me by Adani Enterprises Limited and will place my arguments before the court at the earliest opportunity.
