You should hate what God hates. God hates Sabbath breakers. You should hate Sabbath breakers.

“In the modern age”. Even the heathen scoffs as the church’s ministers preach God’s righteous law and contemn it at the same time under the mask of the gospel. “If thou turn away thy foot from the sabbath, from doing thy pleasure on my holy day; and call the sabbath a delight, the holy of the LORD, honourable; and shalt honour him, not doing thine own ways, nor finding thine own pleasure, nor speaking thine own words: Then shalt thou delight thyself in the LORD; and I will cause thee to ride upon the high places of the earth, and feed thee with the heritage of Jacob thy father: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.” (Isaiah 58:13-14 KJV)
John B. Carpenter@CovenantReform2

@rawakefield46 I've never heard of any church, Reformed or otherwise, in the modern age, disciplining people for working on Sunday, after church. No one disciplines for mere "sabbath breaking".

Philemon? The epistle about Paul sending a runaway servant back to his master because, even though Paul wanted to keep him around for the ministry, it was wrong to take away a mans servant without his permission? The epistle where Paul writes that the servant’s master is “obedient” and a “fellowlabourer”? That Philemon?

Remember that time Paul, an apostle, rebuked Philemon, a minister, for slaveholding?

John Witherspoon Works, Vol. 5 “… to restrain the tongue is the way to govern the heart. t. you do not make mention of an injury you will truly and speedily forgive it, and perhaps literally forget it. Rage is in this respect like a fire, if a vent is given to it, it will increase and spread while there is fuel to consume, but if you can confine and stifle it you will completely extinguish it.” cf. Jas 3:1-10

The civil magistrate “should admit into their kingdoms no worshipping of God, except that which is commanded in the Scriptures. For God, being commoved by idolatry and strange worshipping, hath destroyed many kingdoms, as all prophesyings witness.” - John Knox (A Brief Summary of the Work by Balvanes on Justification)

Both. One can personally hate and it it not be personal (vengeful), if that makes sense. Of course, we should hate all sinful things categorically (or abstractly), as you say. Also the hatred must be without malice… which is often the issue most assume joins with hatred… or is left out of these claims.

@rawakefield46 You've broken the 9th commandment by bearing false witness. You're a liar. All liars go to hell (Rev 21:8). Your continual lies show that you are not genuinely converted but just a religious hypocrite who will be told "away from Me, I never knew you" (Mt 7:21f).
