@dillon_mulroy @samwhoo What are the major selling points for you? I used graphite for a while last year and really liked it, and have been wanting something else to help with stacking PRs and making the rebase flow easier again now thsy I don't have graphite at my new company

@samwhoo it just matches how my brain thinks about making changes and doing operations. i have been using graphite for two years though and sapling for 1.5 years before that

I genuinely believe GitHub desktop is the best Git client for most people The design is simple but it's excellent for day to day work of swapping branches, cherry picking, undoing commits, stashing, previewing PRs - one of their best products

On every project ever there is a dev who has spent an unholy amount of time fighting a CI/CD pipeline

@DavidKPiano yeah, x dot com is a cool domain name in theory, but an absolutely terrible app name

I still call it "Twitter" Not out of principle or anything, but because "X" is a pretty dumb name for an app

📚 Have you ever seen a TypeScript type say: T extends any ? ... : never and wondered: why would you do that - that doesn’t do anything! Or does it? It does! I’m explaining it based on the `DistributiveOmit` type in my newest article: tkdodo.eu/blog/omit-for-…

That’s basically the reason I stopped believing FP is a silver bullet. You can give devs this wonderful expression-oriented language with Algebraic Data Types and pattern matching. And they’ll still do shit like .unwrap()
Tim McNamara@timClicks

Cloudflare generated many millions of HTTP 5XX responses today. They were triggered because code in a core proxy called .unwrap() on a Result for an operation that was expected to never fail.

@rawdeg I don't understand how having an ORM do your mapping is more type safe than writing your own typed functions?

I still don't like ORMs. Not once have I felt that the added complexity was worth it. Why write linq queries when you have SQL? The useful bit is turning your results into records / object but that's easy to do by hand. I don't understand why the industry likes ORMs?

@TkDodo @Sentry I believe the main reason Tooltip component exists is because the title “tooltip” that browser renders is not stylable

📚 I haven’t written much at all about the “front of the front-end” on my blog, but since I’m now working on the design engineering team @Sentry and also maintained the design-system at adverity for some time, I have opinions there as well 😬: tkdodo.eu/blog/tooltip-c…
