@colligocritters Dog breeding can be ethical (ex: Retro pugs that are selectively bred to try and fix the breed's deformities made due to inbreeding and selective breeding) but most of the time it isn't due to an overabundance of strays/abandonment.

I feel weird calling myself a beetle BREEDER because people associate it with e.g. dog breeders who breed for unethical standards and harm the species. I just *have* beetles in a massive terrarium and they felt so comfy they started fucking so much that I NEED to sell the babies

@WinglessBat1 @colligocritters retro pugs are actually unethical! there's no such thing as a retro pug, as even back then a lot of brachycephalic breeds were still brachycephalic. people like to cherry pick photos a lot. ethical pug breeders breed for health and form, there's even lines in the standard (1/2)

@colligocritters dog breeders can definitely be ethical! ethical breeders strive for the health, function and overall best version for their dogs. however, ethical breeders are a smaller group compared to backyard breeders which are unfortunately way more numerous. and also, love the beetles !

Our neighbors kept trying to kill their moles but we didnt. So they all moved into our yard. That year flooded really, really bad (we were on a waterway) but not our house! Not our yard. Thanks moles!

I'm tired of people not caring about animals like sharks, snakes and alligators because they aren't "cute". They are beautiful and amazing creatures, they barely attack humans and it also depends on the species. Please leave wild animals alone, don't shoot them.
