Scope — a charity that prides itself on its commitment to “inclusivity” — rescinded its invitation for the London Marathon to the Singing Striders choir over its founding members’ gender-critical beliefs. It has now reinstated the choir, but the group is, quite rightly, choosing to go its own way. Gender-critical beliefs are protected under the Equality Act 2010 and were reaffirmed by last year’s landmark Supreme Court ruling. Despite this, those penalised for their gender-critical beliefs remain the single largest category of cases at the Free Speech Union. Charities like Scope cannot cherry-pick which protected characteristics they wish to support.

@Ironman92Kona @miffythegamer @scope intimate care, for example, would be when say a non verbal physically disabled woman requires help washing/showering/toileting - I say she should have the right to same sex care in this situation.

Do read @jan_murray for @spikedonline on her cancellation by @scope. This will surely become a case study in disastrous PR management. I suspect it will have long term consequences for @Scope's reputation & perhaps shorter term consequences for @scope's senior management!

But why would I (or anyone) campaign to stop transwomen from swimming in the sea, or doing anything else for that matter?
A trans identity doesn't negate anyones sex - we have some same sex spaces for good and valid reasons & everyone needs to respect this.
