Pope Leo advocated for an end to the war in Iran. How did Donald Trump respond? By calling him names and cancelling $11 million in funding for Catholic Charities to provide shelter and basic necessities to migrant children. Eliminating access to care for children who have already endured so much trauma is profoundly inhumane. We should be expanding these services, not cutting them out of spite. But Donald Trump only knows spite, not compassion.
