Traveled back to Netherlands to visit family for Christmas.
Instead got dengue the day we landed.
40 degrees fever. 160 heart rate.
Called the ambulance because it hit me so suddenly and scared the shit out of me.
He called in to bring me to the hospital.
But, was told I wasn’t sick enough so they wouldn’t accept me.
So back to my room it was.
Finally got an appointment at my mother’s doctor who atleast was friendly enough to see me.
Told there’s nothing I could do and just had to sick it out.
Worst 10 days of my life. Sick at home in bed. No medication. Just sweating it out. Horrible symptoms. Couldn’t eat. Couldn’t hold liquid.
Glad to go back to Bali soon where I can atleast get a bit more help when something like this happens.

i'd been paying for a 2000mbps internet plan for a year now
i knew i didn't have it setup properly but it wasn't a priority till recently - but it was surprising how wrong i had it
first off - only one port on the modem is actually 2.5gbps so that's mistake #1
even if i had that right the cable i had plugged into it was a CAT5E which can only do 1000mbps - CAT6 looks the same so you'd have to notice the tiny print
and also my eero router has 2 ports but only one is 2.5gbps
and then an old laptop i'm using as a server, the ethernet adapter was only 1000 gpbps
we're in the world of standardized cables/ports but they invisibly vary - i imagine a lot of regular people are paying for stuff that isn't actually working right
