@jaffeab @bcmhouston As one of those who made the move from Vanderbilt to Baylor it was an exciting time. Bonding was rapid as we were all in a new environment. O'Malley did everything so his people could pursue their research and advance their careers.

Fantastic thread! Happy birthday to the Dept of Molecular and Cellular Biology @bcmhouston! Labor laws aside, I like to think I was the youngest recruit when my family moved there with my father, @rcjaffe, who made the move with Bert O'Malley from Vanderbilt 😀

The Dept of Molecular and Cellular Biology @bcmhouston marks its 50th anniversary today! 🎉 🍾 It was the first Cell Biology dept in the country!

First trip to Italy with the family since the pandemic. The Italians have invented many things, but perhaps none as impactful for a family with young kids as ‘animatore’

@sciencevs Great episode. Sad when a clinician basically says "I don't care what the data shows" I know. That is why we have "cures" that do nothing except possible delay real treatment (remember stem cell injections?)

New ep! IVERMECTIN. When promising studies came out early in the pandemic, a lot of scientists got excited about this stuff. But then … cracks started to show. We went down the rabbit hole and found out there's way more to all this than the headlines. #login" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">open.spotify.com/episode/5XYbFI…

My father @rcjaffe officially retired this week. His last day @UICPhysiology was Monday, 8/31. Although my Dad always described himself as ‘small potatoes’, and since there was no departmental send-off, I wanted to highlight a few things about his career (thread)

The science block on day3 @ De Jaffe Academy was about density! 0, 20, 40, & 60% sucrose (sugar) solutions in water (w/v), each with a drop of different food coloring. G's pipetting technique (left) is pretty impressive for a 6yo. #homeschoolscience

Day 1 @ThirdRockV! Excited to help create the next wave of biotechs translating breakthrough science into transformative therapies for patients. Massive thanks to @KleinLabHMS, @bwardboston, & colleagues in @HMS_SysBio for being so welcoming for the last few months!

At the Red Sox game with the family. Not sure what’s more difficult, science or explaining the rules of baseball to my 4yo (and my wife).

@wendyzuk re bigfoot - you should mention how many are needed for reproducing to keep a species alive. Need many more than a dozen.
