Too many faces, not enough pies. "It is far better to grasp the universe as it really is than to persist in delusion, no matter how satisfying & reassuring." CS

Earth is constantly immersed in a stream of charged particles flowing outward from the Sun: the solar wind. When it encounters Earth’s magnetic field, it creates a massive shock wave in space that can be chaotic or calm. Help scientists understand why as part of NASA's new Shock Detectives citizen science project: go.nasa.gov/3RyRFqt

Who's afraid of Zwan-Wolf? NASA's MAVEN orbiter surprised scientists by observing the Zwan-Wolf effect, an atmospheric phenomenon never before seen at the Red Planet. The discovery expands our understanding of space weather at Mars, essential knowledge for ongoing exploration. More: go.nasa.gov/42GRxaY

#OTD in 2009, the fifth and final Hubble Servicing Mission (STS-125), released Hubble to continue observing our universe. The STS-125 crew were the last people to touch Hubble, having completed five spacewalks during the mission.

It’s all in your perspective! We are seeing just the edge of this pencil-thin galaxy known as NGC 4565. If we could just change our angle, though, we would see it has grand spiral arms just like our own Milky Way. #MondayMotivation

And the beat goes on... NASA spacecraft tracked a record-breaking 19-day radio burst from the Sun in August. As it rang out, the Sun's rotation brought the burst into view of four different spacecraft, which were spread across the inner solar system. go.nasa.gov/4ddlBkp

Hello Mars, goodbye Mars 👋 NASA’s #MissionToPsyche spacecraft was speeding by the Red Planet on May 15 when it snapped this rare, crescent view of Mars. The successful flyby flung the Psyche spacecraft toward its final destination: the metal-rich asteroid Psyche. 1/2

@MaxParx92 @JoeDirt34272 @clarke_san18335 @airandspace It's already occurred, 9 Apollo Missions to the Moon, 6 Lunar Landings, 0 fakery. Multiple countries monitored the missions with independent instruments, some with adversarial interests to those of the United States. They would have had every incentive to expose it, but didn't.🤔

@JoeDirt34272 @clarke_san18335 @airandspace We'll talk about that in 2 years. My bet is Artemis will not land man on Moon not in 2028, not in 2030, etc. But you'll always believe it's going to happen IN FUTURE 😉

On this day in 1972, Apollo 16 lunar module "Orion" landed on the Moon in the Descartes Highlands. John Young (seen here) and Charles Duke were on the lunar surface for 71 hours and two minutes, while TK Mattingly circled the Moon in the command module "Casper."

Let's get weird with it. We've confirmed more than 6,000 exoplanets, planets beyond our solar system. Some orbit with the same kind constantly facing their star; some don't orbit a star at all. But those are just the start. Meet some of @NASAHubble's weirdest exoplanet finds.
