Private defi won’t win by trying to compete head-on with public defi. Its path to success is in new use cases that are unlocked by privacy. Public defi today is dominated by traders, yield farmers, degens, and bots. They require fast execution speed and low transaction costs. No privacy-preserving stack built on zk/mpc/fhe is going to outperform existing protocols on those parameters anytime soon. Current meta is interoperability. Public and private DeFi complementing each other to cover different parts of the workflow. - Zcash started bridging into public defi - @Blanksquare_io's Shielded Yield goes a step further, by letting users enter public yield protocols while keeping receipts private. - Kohaku initiative is looking to make it easy for mainstream wallets to integrate shielded pools, simplifying technical integration and setting standards for user experince But this still isn’t a fully private ecosystem. Networks like Maiden and Aztec may bring a paradigm shift on the scale of Ethereum introducing smart contracts a decade ago.- Programmable privacy could enable entirely new classes of protocols that rely on private state and sensitive data, but are more relaxed about cost and execution speed. I'm really curious to see how this ecosystem will look like once we go beyond thinking of "private Uniswap" or "private Aave".

GPT Agents just dropped. Soon similar tools will digest every on-chain move that isn’t cryptographically protected, connect dots humans miss, and reason over entire transaction histories. Think unfair competitive intel, personal profiling, even blackmail. Privacy isn’t a niche feature anymore, it’s survival tech for blockchains.

Transparency is great for trust, but public ledgers expose user data like nothing before. We need shielded pools that protect everyday users while still thwarting illicit behavior. Accountability + privacy = mass adoption.
