A reminder for any Bitcoiners. Seed words. There is a Trezor youtube link at the bottom that explains hidden passphrase wallets really well.
1) Never ever EVER enter Bitcoin seed words into a computer or mobile phone keypad. Keylogging software is really easy to be installed onto your machine from a malicious website or email link etc. and can sit for a long time capturing and building a text file for access by a "scumbag" later.
*Only enter seeds when you need to onto a hardware wallet to recover to one (should only be when you recover to one, a few times in your life), such as a Trezor Hardware wallet upgrade, which gives you buttons to toggle. Never use the computer keyboard!
2) Never ever EVER speak your seed words out loud. The 'walls' have ears.
3) Always consider using a passphrase hidden wallet to hold some or all of your funds.
If your metal seed plates are compromised and someone uses them to recover to a wallet, they will be taken only to a standard (hopefully empty) wallet.... They will have ZERO ways to know if a hidden wallet even exists! So your money is safe (provided you have a good passphase wallet that is not your pet's name or your birthday or your surname).
A BIP39 hidden passphrase wallet is never held on a hardware wallet to be hacked - it gets pulled up temporarily only when you pull it up to look into it.
If you do not use a hidden passphrase wallet, the Government or other clever people might be able to confiscate your wallet and spend months but eventually crack it and get in to your standard wallet and help themselves! They cannot get to your hidden wallet.
4) Never backup your seedwords into a hidden part of an Excel file or an email to your self, or online password wallet. Never put them online anywhere. Hackers can run scripts that search for the known Bitcoin seed words through your machine or online email accounts, or your Dropbox files etc. If you have done this, you need to consider setting up a new hardware wallet with new seed words and send your Bitcoin over to the new one asap.
Metal plates are analogue, physical, and generally safe where you can keep some copies distributed or buried like John Wick in your basement - and if you write down your hidden wallet passphrase, keep it well away from the main seed plates. Another building or another country. However, memorise it well. You have no excuse not to recall it daily. It is that important.
Consider using the "memory palace technique" or create a movie in your mind to memorise your seeds, or only the hidden phrase part and think of it daily or frequently enough to get it to stick. So you could get on a plane tomorrow with nothing and access your wealth. It is a super power.
5) Take security seriously. Think of how to best store your seeds and passphrase/s. Think what to do after your death - such as giving loved ones some of your seeds and the other half in the event of your death including a passphrase from somewhere else etc. No right answer here...It is complex...
I am a Trezor fan. They are open source and easy for anyone to use but many prefer ColdCard, Jade etc.. *Do your own research.

Un homme au Royaume-Uni accuse sa femme, dont il est maintenant séparé, d'avoir volé plus de 171 millions de dollars en Bitcoin après avoir utilisé des caméras de surveillance pour obtenir sa seed phrase.
Après avoir été averti du vol potentiel, le mari a mis en place du matériel audio pour tenter de trouver des preuves contre sa femme.
L'individu, Ping Fai Yuen, avait plus de 2 323 Bitcoin stockés sur son Trezor en 2023. Mais ils ont été transférés de son portefeuille et, après de multiples transactions, ont été dispersés sur 71 adresses Bitcoin différentes.
En novembre 2025, Ping a demandé une "injonction de préservation des actifs propriétaires", demandant une déclaration de propriété du BTC et un gel des actifs crypto.
