One of the worst things about being American is the absolute lack of unifying national identity and purpose that comes with being a member of a diverse, multicultural economic zone where any member of any race, religion, ethnicity, culture, values and language can be American.
The only thing with even a remote chance of unifying these disparate peoples behind a common cause is antisemitism
