In 2004 the Sun Fire E25k was the apex predator of computing. This was the largest single-image Unix machine that money could buy ($2M fully loaded).
This bad boy had:

Deli manager wants all staff to join WhatsApp. The company itself has a messaging platform that is barely used & instead relies on group text chats and other apps. I think it could easily be abused without clear guidelines as to how, when & why it will be used. Am I overreacting?

The magic smoke would escape from the galvanic isolation transformer and 75 ohm termination resistors in the network adapter pretty much regardless of how you connect it.
The transformer does have the withstanding voltage to handle the 110V/240V mains if it's on different windings, but they are commoned on the primary side with the 75R termination resistors.
Most likely the coils, traces or resistors with burn open very quickly. It will smell wonderful.
The secondary might be saved.
