@EylonALevy @goddek "Let that be a warning".. the amount of arrogance the power of cucking the US into saving your ass affords you is phenomenal. Well played.

@goddek Let that be a warning to anyone thinking of abducting our citizens as sex slaves then waging a guerrilla war from tunnels under hospitals.

Something I have always wondered about:
Most modern business and scientific software is written in C#, Java and Python. The source code is compiled not directly into x86 machine code, but into Java/.NET/PVM bytecodes, and then JIT-compiled into machine code on the fly.
Now, the JIT compiler knows which precise CPU model it is running on, for example, this one. What if it could compile bytecodes not into x86 machine code, but directly into micro-ops for this CPU model? I am not reinventing Itanium because Itanium was an architecture; this is bypassing architecture.
How much faster would things be?

@davepl1968 No. Microsoft has repeatedly gone out of its way to show just how much they don't give a flying fuck about regular users and how absurdly incompetent the company and therefore the people working there are.

Would you pay for a subscription to a "Windows Professional" if it included NO telemetry, ads, sponsored links, or upsells, bloat, or junk?
Clearly, they have to make money. Today, however, it seems everything is predicated on monetizing the customer post-purchase. And that's largely because people don't pay for Windows.
Put another way, if Windows were clean and didn't include any bloat or upsell, would you actually pay for it?

The Colossus 2 supercomputer for @Grok is now operational.
First Gigawatt training cluster in the world. Upgrades to 1.5GW in April.
X Freeze@XFreeze
xAI has officially become the first to bring a gigawatt-scale coherent AI training cluster online That’s more electricity than the peak demand of San Francisco While competitors are still drafting roadmaps for 2027, xAI is already operating at major city–level power today The execution speed is unreal: Colossus 1 → from dirt to fully operational in 122 days Colossus 2 → just crossed the 1 GW barrier, targeting 2 GW total Elon’s playbook hasn’t changed: move faster than everyone, scale before they finish meetings The strategy is clear: speed and execution at scale
