@StefanMolyneux $3K deposit on a plot of land that went into litigation. 16 years and one very favorable settlement later, the land is worth north of $1.7m and I own a 60% stake whenever it sells. $3K turned into $1M+ in a bit over 13 years (date of settlement). Leaving it to my kids. :-P

More HR training (I promise this won’t turn into an annoying runner account). One hour at target HR. No walks (but I would have, if needed). It took like a month to get here. Lots of run/walking in the last month because HR would take off. The HR training requires you to run MUCH slower than you normally would. So you have to accept that. Your “normal pace” will always be zone 3 because that’s where the work of the running meets nicely with your comfort levels. The problem with zone 3 running is the eventually plateau. It’s counter intuitive that running slower than your normal run pace would behave that way. But the body of evidence here isn’t small. Want to run faster? You gotta run slower. Lactate clearance HR is where the science nerds define the beginning of zone 2 and this is an important distinction the more elite the athlete. But if you’re a regular hobbyist who wants to start jogging? Not sure where to set your HR target? MAF method it. 180 - age ( - 5) is a fantastic good estimate. The granularity of the poorly to no trained isn’t necessary. Run/walk over TIME. Keep your HR *under* your target. Run and if you get above the HR, walk. Learn to run slower. And when you can finally run slower over time become amazed your run pace begins to creep up without effort. You can do this with one long slow effort per week, one easy run effort per week, and one easy/fast (you actually get to get after it with this one). Use times. Like start with a 30minute run/walk long run. Easy run needs to be about half the time. Say with the easy/fast. Time increases by 10% total week to week. Use an AI and use the cheat code for basic running programming. Tell it your need a HR training protocol and give it your goals and time available to run. Anyway. HR training is cool. Check it out.

@CoffeeBlackMD Would it make sense to mix speeds *within* a single session? For example, on my typical 5-mile route, run the first 4 miles at a slow pace, then speed up to a more normal pace for the final mile? Or should I dedicate an entire session to just the slower pace?

@realrck 80/20 is the rule of thumb. 80% the slower stuff and 20% faster stuff. I won’t pretend to be a running coach but I think you can easily split that 20% between threshold efforts and some speed work.

Really? Felt insanely slow - almost a fast walk for me. Oh well, I've got nothing to lose by trying. How long would you recommend I stay at that pace (assuming 3-4 sessions per week)? Should I mix-in some normal speed sessions from time to time? Is there a desired ratio? Note: Thanks for taking the time to answer all my noobish questions! :-)

I'll look into the chest strap. FYI, tried my first "slow" run this morning. Kept heart rate at or under 130bpm as much as possible. However, my pace was *brutally* slow - 13 min or more per mile. Any faster and I quickly jumped into the upper 130s and had to force myself to slow down again. But I wasn't "gassed" at the end, so that's a plus.

@realrck Can you get a chest strap for it. Sometimes the HR lags a lot on the wrist.

As we know, New Glenn's upper stage failed to conduct its planned circularization burn; this left the payload in an unrecoverable low orbit. We have tracking data on the payload however, there is no data provided for the New Glenn upper-stage at this time. It's safe to assume it did not complete a disposal burn. New Glenn upper stage and payload will re-enter within the next 4-5 days. New Glenn upper stage dry mass is around 25 metric tons and measures in at ~ 77ft x 23ft which is comparable to the Long March 5B stage that the CASC left in orbit a few years ago. New Glenn's upper stage poses a significant risk to locations between 36.11 degrees N/S latitude and will generate a large debris field. If it re-enters over land, largely intact pieces may be found, possibly as large as 5 feet or more in diameter. Lighter-weight spherical objects such as COPVs are expected to partially/completely survive re-entry.

@CoffeeBlackMD I like the sound of that! 😎 Tomorrow morning's session I will try to stay in Zone 2 the whole way (using my Galaxy Watch 6 to track it). Currently, my VO² Max is 39.4, which is supposedly "Excellent" for someone my age according to Samsung Health. 🤔

@realrck Yeah but the wise man knows that if he trains slow he can eventually run a 7:30minute pace longer than the young man always doing 8 who is likely topped out there.

@CoffeeBlackMD Understood. Just seems so counterintuitive. Also, the younglings blowing by me with their sub-8 minute paces jabs at my ego a bit. 😬 Hard not to feel like slow = "Dude, you're too old for this. Go eat your oatmeal and watch some Oprah reruns." 🤣

@realrck First. Strong work. But. You are tapped out here. If you want to go faster, you need to spend time going slower.

It fascinates me that anyone could look at this conflict and not admire Ukraine. They look at these two leaders, one who is innovating and fighting for his people...and one who is sitting in the Kremlin...and think "oh yes I admire the guy in the Kremlin relying on mercenaries hired from abroad....not the guy who innovates and resisted invasion." But then again...it's the same types apparently who looked at young and strong and inspiring Peter Magyar and thought "oh, yes superannuated Orban is better"....so it must just be a glitch....because no reasonable person would ever draw those conclusions.

@DrTeslaFSD 7 stops - nearly 2 hours total. Versus maybe 3 stops - at a maximum 5-10 minutes per stop - with a decently efficient modern ICE vehicle covering the same distance.🤔 And the cost savings are negligible despite the current geopolitical situation and soaring price of oil.🧐

Just completed my longest ever single day road trip in the Cybertruck. Here are the stats: • 946 miles driven from Fort Lauderdale FL to Richmond VA. • 17.5 hrs (slow due to Florida traffic) • 7 Supercharger stops - total time charging 1hr 53min (avg 16min, longest 23min) • $132.40 in Supercharger fees ($0.14 per mile) • 100% on FSD • WiFi courtesy of Starlink mini Cybertruck is the only vehicle I’d want to try this with. Super easy and comfortable. Kids enjoyed it and were able to watch movies and play computer games against each other thanks to Starlink and the entertainment system.

@Rich_Cooper So, as she's telling git, her beta simp was there from nearly the beginning: He's seen first steps. He's heard first words. But...he wasn't there at conception, and thus the kid will never be truly "his" to carry on his genes, etc. Blood is thicker than Astroglide, ladies! 🤡
