The Supreme Court has ruled that under UK law, trans people are secondary citizens and shouldn’t have access to services and amenities. You know they’re gonna do the same thing to gay people and cis women, right?

The new EHRC guidance on how to ensure equal rights of all to access basic services falls short of being inclusive or workable in the real world - I will continue to work with other MPs who recognise this to navigate how we change that. The ruling on the interpretation of biological sex in the Equality Act by the Supreme Court is 'bad law' ie. it will fail to achieve its 'intended purpose' and cause 'unintentional harm' both to trans people and to cis men and women if/when it is enforced. Chaos will ensue. #EHRC

@owenjonesjourno In practise ib public trans women will use women's toilets, as they've always done. Nobody will know. The impact will be in workplaces, colleges, schools. People will be stigmatised in the place they're at every day, amongst friends and colleagues. Nobody will be safer.

And what happens to trans men? By law they are supposed to use women’s toilets. But if they do so, they face being ejected on the basis they are male intruders illegally using women’s toilets.
