@MalcolGate Er, no you don’t. Males are not ‘women’, pet. That’s just basic biological fact and, of course, the law. Keeping males out of female spaces keeps women and girls safe. That is why we segregate by sex.

The ruling on the interpretation of biological sex in the Equality Act by the Supreme Court is 'bad law' ie. it will fail to achieve its 'intended purpose' and cause 'unintentional harm' both to trans people and to cis men and women if/when it is enforced. Chaos will ensue. #EHRC

As a gay man who has been on the receiving end of homophobic violence, I would love to abolish male threats against gender non conforming presentation! Given it’s a byproduct of misogyny, you know that’s not going to happen any time soon - although all men need to fight it as hard as we can. As a gay man I clearly feel that acutely! There’s no evidence base about trans women using men’s toilets because it’s almost never happened. You know perfectly well what will happen if suddenly trans women start accessing men’s toilets. Putting people presenting as the opposite gender in that environment would result in abuse, humiliation and violence. Trans women know this and will simply stop using public toilets, which will mean withdrawing from society. The idea businesses, organisations and local authorities will invest in creating and maintaining third spaces is a fantasy - and you know it. I would respect you more if you simply said “yes life will be made significantly harder for trans women, trans men and butch lesbians, but that’s a price I’m willing to pay.” In practise you’ve helped create a law which combines being both unjust and impractical, and which makes us an outlier among Western nations. It will do nothing to reduce the rate of male violence against women, the principal causes of which have been ignored because of Britain’s anti-trans hysteria. As a result, this law will - in time - collapse, and history will make its judgements accordingly. Enjoy your victory while you last! And that’s the thing. None of you are behaving like you’ve won anything. Telling!

I've never seen any evidence that trans-identified men face an enhanced risk of assault in men's loos. But in case they do, the @EHRC Code says that, wherever practicable, additional mixed sex options should be made available. Another option is for men to stop hitting other men

@HodsonAnn Er, no. I support the rights of women - all women. Women will not be any safer as a result of the SC judgement and EHRC guidance.

When the truth comes out, all the people currently slamming me for my criticism of Restore will see. I have an article laying out the truth, ready to go. The Supreme Court has ruled that under UK law, trans people never had the rights people like you insisted they had. You misrepresented the law and cheered on the removal of women’s rights. Trans people have lost nothing except the mistaken belief you fostered.
