Crime Watch told you last August that Hennepin County prosecutors tossed Abdullahi Abdi Mohamed, 04/01/2005, a plea deal dismissing a machine gun charge in exchange for a guilty plea on felon in possession of a firearm. They agreed to stay the 5-year prison sentence in exchange for 90 days on home monitoring. Then they let him out of custody to await his fake sentencing and he didn't show up.
Welp, it's happened again. Following his arrest last August in Bloomington on weapons (we cannot find that he was ever charged), the plea deal on the above case was renegotiated, still dismissing the machine gun charge but calling for a 36-month executed sentence on the felon in possession count.
THEN THEY LET HIM OUT AGAIN WITH NO ADDITONAL BAIL TO AWAIT SENTENCING earlier this month. (Judge Dominick Mathews)
HE DIDN'T SHOW UP.🙄
His bond was forfeited and a warrant was issued.
He was picked up last week and is now being held on $250,000 bail. FFS.
His next hearing is Tuesday.

ABDULLAHI ABDI MOHAMED, 04/01/2005, currently residing in Apple Valley has been charged with felony possession of a machine gun (Glock with a switch/auto sear).
Charges say police pulled over a vehicle in #Dinkytown near #UMN on Monday that was going the wrong way on a one-way.
The five occupants were wearing masks and hoodies.
One loaded gun was recovered from a juvenile in the vehicle.
Another loaded gun with an extended magazine was recovered from the pajama pants of another juvenile in the vehicle.
When Mohamed was removed from the vehicle, he tried to throw the Glock with a switch from his waistband.
A fourth gun was recovered from inside the vehicle, which has been sent for forensic testing.
No word on whether the juveniles were or are in custody.
Mohamed made his first court appearance today and requested an interpreter and applied for a public defender. He remains in custody on $100,000 bail at this time, but he's been given the option of ZERO bail on conditional release.

6 years ago tonight Calvin Horton Jr was killed at Cadillac Pawn on Lake Street by the shop owner. The shop owner was booked/released and never charged. He sold the shop shortly after. The shop now has the unfortunate sign outside that reads "ICE GUYS".

@zacharywefel Dave Kleis tried to make it so stearns county could annex the benton + sherburne parts of st cloud, which would have been extremely helpful.
Stearns & Benton also should have made the new LEC into a regional jail (see Ch. 641) and combined dispatch centers.

@Vibutler_ that framing of speed limits doesn’t make sense from a policing perspective either; A huge amount of people speed, incl. law abiding folk who don’t have warrants.
The same cannot be said for offenses like fare jumping, which is why enforcing that was part of broken windows.

Many people misunderstand the point of traffic stops. They are not to regulate speeding. They exist to drag a net through the people likely to have warrants. Speed cameras are missing the point — speed limits are set to give probable cause, not describe appropriate travel speed.
