When Donald Trump turned the Kennedy Center into a monument to himself, I introduced legislation to stop him. Today, a federal judge—following @RepBeatty’s legal challenge—ruled that Trump's name was illegally added and reaffirmed that only Congress has the authority to make that change. This ruling validates what we argued from the beginning: the Kennedy Center belongs to the American people, not to Donald Trump or any president seeking to put their personal brand on a national treasure. This is an important victory, but the fight isn't over. Congress must act to permanently prevent presidents from using our national institutions, memorials, and landmarks as vehicles for self-promotion. nbcnews.com/video/federal-…

These comments are unhinged! While it is apparent that he is increasingly out of touch with reality, serves his own ego at the expense of the American people and is ever more vindictive and angry — the more pressing question is whether he continues to have the capacity and mental judgment necessary to continue to be President. I think not!
MeidasTouch@MeidasTouch

Trump just posted a full-blown essay melting down over today’s federal court ruling requiring his name to be removed from the Kennedy Center and preventing him from shutting it down. Trump blames Barack Obama and the “Radical Left” while declaring he’s no longer interested in running the institution. A historic crash out.

Donald Trump spent years using NDAs to keep people quiet. Now he's trying to bring the same playbook to the federal government. Federal employees serve the American people—not any president. The 35,000 federal workers in Maryland's Sixth District should be free to report wrongdoing without fear of retaliation. govexec.com/workforce/2026…

The United States needs to be the leader in biotechnology. As a member of the House Science, Space, and Technology Committee, I introduced the bipartisan SCALE Act to help establish the gold standard for biotechnology and ensure America remains the global leader in innovation, public health, and national security. The future won’t wait. Neither should we.

When costs rise, women are often hit first and hardest. That's why I brought together women leaders from across Montgomery County to discuss the affordability challenges facing families and the solutions needed to bring costs down and opportunities up. Thank you to Comptroller Brooke Lierman, Delegate Lily Qi, and moderator Paula Ross for a thoughtful conversation focused on supporting working families, caregivers, and the next generation of Marylanders.

In Maryland, we leave no one behind. One of my top priorities is bringing federal tax dollars home to the people I serve. That's why I fought to secure $1 million in federal funding for the Gaithersburg Pedestrian Safety Project, working alongside Senator @ChrisVanHollen to get it across the finish line. This investment will help keep students, families, and seniors safe while strengthening our community for years to come.

This may be the most shameless example yet of an administration that views taxpayer money as a tool to reward loyalty and punish critics. I’m demanding answers, pushing for oversight, and fighting to stop this abuse of taxpayer dollars.

Today, I was honored to join NPS Park Rangers and community members at Monocacy National Battlefield for a Memorial Day commemoration honoring the brave servicemembers who gave their lives for our freedoms. Together, we reflected on the meaning of this day and observed the National Moment of Silence in remembrance of their sacrifice. Memorial Day is more than the start of summer — it is a solemn reminder that freedom is not free. I am deeply grateful to the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country, and to the families who continue to carry their memory forward.

Today was a special day in Mountain Maryland as we celebrated the resilience of communities still recovering from last year’s historic floods. While the Trump Administration played politics by denying critical FEMA aid to Maryland, @GovWesMoore stepped up with a $12 million investment to help these communities rebuild and recover. In Maryland, we don’t leave people behind — and we put politics and differences aside to support neighbors in need. Congratulations to Westernport Mayor Judy Hamilton on receiving a special honor from the Governor for her extraordinary leadership, and thank you to the students, teachers, first responders, and community organizations whose hard work and dedication helped make this recovery possible.

Today, I led a roundtable alongside @RepVindman, Ranking Member @RepZoeLofgren, and leading scientists to discuss the future of biotechnology and the need for common standards to keep America ahead. We are in a global race in biotechnology, and the United States needs to lead. That’s why I’m introducing the SCALE Biology Act — legislation to create a new biometrology program at @NIST and help America set the global gold standard in biotechnology. Supporting our U.S. competitiveness, national security, and public health. If America wants to lead the future of biotechnology, we can’t sit on the sidelines. This bill will help our country lead innovation, lead the standards, and lead the future.

This horrific Republican reconciliation bill does nothing for working families. Families need relief — not taxpayer-funded payouts to Trump loyalists, vanity projects like a White House ballroom, and fear fueled by ICE raids. Republicans are using YOUR tax dollars to enrich themselves while working families pay the price. Enough is truly enough.

Trump's corruption knows no limits—and Republicans are just letting him get away with it. Watch New Dems call him out and explain what Congress must do to ensure leaders in Washington are actually working for the American people.

A big bipartisan win. Housing affordability is a crisis across America, and we need to build more homes to increase supply, drive down costs, and help more families achieve the dream of homeownership. That’s why I voted YES on the 21st Century ROAD to Housing Act, bipartisan legislation to expand affordable housing, cut red tape, and help communities build homes faster. My affordability agenda calls for building 5 million new homes nationwide because bringing costs down and opportunity up starts with making the American Dream attainable again.

I’m deeply saddened to hear of the passing of Barney Frank. He was a fearless public servant, a trailblazer for LGBTQ+ Americans, and one of the most influential lawmakers of his generation. Moreover, John and I loved his humor, his empathy, and his dry wit. From advancing equality to helping lead critical financial reforms, his impact on this country will be felt for decades to come. My thoughts are with his family, friends, and all those mourning his loss.

The officers who defended the Capitol on January 6th are patriots. Harry Dunn and Daniel Hodges risked their lives protecting our democracy from a violent mob. They should be honored — not forced to watch this corrupt and shameless administration hand taxpayer dollars to the very people who attacked them. I applaud them for continuing to stand up for the rule of law and the truth.

REMINDER: Trump’s DOJ wants to hand out $1.8 BILLION of YOUR taxpayer money to Trump allies claiming they were “wronged.” Todd Blanche admitted no judge approved the fund — and Jan. 6 rioters who assaulted police officers can apply. This is the most corrupt and shameless administration in U.S. history.

Horrified by the shooting at the Islamic Center of San Diego. My heart is with the victims, their families, and the entire community as they grapple with this tragedy. No one should ever be targeted because of their faith. Hate and Islamophobia have no place in our communities, and we must ensure those responsible are held accountable and these actions stop
