Welcome back to another edition of Farm Bill Friday! This week: we’re talking about the SAFE Act. Iowa is the second-largest agricultural exporter in the nation, but our markets and trade remain vulnerable to foreign animal disease. That’s why I worked to include my SAFE Act in the Farm Bill. It strengthens negotiations with our trading partners and helps ensure that an outbreak in one region does not disrupt Iowa’s ability to produce and export agricultural goods.

Today, I voted to pass a resolution to express immense support for the Working Families Tax Cuts and the historic success we have already seen for families on Tax Day. Iowans alone are saving more than $3,000 in refunds. This is what pro-growth, pro-family tax policy looks like and we are just getting started.

This week, I had the pleasure of meeting with the National Pork Producers. We had a great conversation about my work to repeal Prop 12 through the Farm Bill, the importance of supporting our farmers and producers, and the USMCA. Representing the largest hog producing district in the nation, it’s essential to hear from our producers directly on how we can best support them. I will continue to be a strong voice for them and get the Farm Bill across the finish line.

This week, the House unanimously passed legislation to rename the Fort Madison Post Office in honor of Martin Graber, an Iowa State Representative who dedicated his life to serving and educating Iowans. This is a tribute to his legacy, military service, and impact on our community.

Yesterday, it was great to meet with @FLOTUS to discuss improving outcomes for youth aging out of foster care. We must ensure every young American has the support and resources needed to succeed.

With severe weather storms last night and expected into the next few days, Iowans are urged to stay indoors, avoid unnecessary travel, and follow guidance from local officials due to severe weather.

The results are clear this Tax Day: the Working Families Tax Cuts are delivering historic tax relief for everyday Americans. I was proud to help secure this victory for Iowans, prevent the largest tax hike in American history, and will keep working with my colleagues to deliver even more results.

As the only Member of Congress serving on both the House Ways and Means Committee and the Agriculture Committee, I was glad to be a direct voice and advocate for raising the Death Tax exemption, helping save over 50,000 family farms in Iowa. Family farms are the backbone of Iowa, and it is essential that we ensure they stay in the hands of the next generation and are not sold off just to pay the IRS.

Today, I joined my Republican colleagues on the House steps this Tax Day to highlight the impact of the Working Families Tax Cuts. I was honored to be joined by Craig Moss, a fifth-generation Iowa farmer and President of the Iowa Cattlemen’s Association. Raising the Death Tax exemption is critical to preserving family farms like his.

Today is Tax Day! By preventing the largest tax hike in American history, eliminating taxes on tips, overtime, and Social Security, and supporting Main Street businesses, this historic tax relief is delivering for Iowans. This is just the beginning. I look forward to delivering more victories for Iowans and ensuring they keep more of what they earn.

This Tax Day is a New Day for hardworking Americans. Because of President Trump and Republican policies, the Working Families Tax Cuts are delivering bigger paychecks, higher refunds, and real relief, helping families keep more of what they’ve earned.

I will always work to defend taxpayer dollars, and the Working Families Tax Cut does exactly that. I was proud to work with my Republican colleagues and President Trump to deliver the largest tax cut in American history, and I’ll keep working to safeguard taxpayer dollars and ensure Iowans are keeping more of what they earn.

Representing the largest hog producing district in the nation, I helped to lead the fix to the egregious Prop 12 mandate in the Farm Bill. California produces less than 1/10 of 1% of our nations hogs. It is critical that we do not let California dictate how Iowa producers feed the country.

On April 14th, 1948, the United States Air Force Reserve was born. Today, we recognize the nearly 70,000 Reserve Airmen who protect our skies and homeland! We are grateful for their service, sacrifice, and devotion to our nation.
