On Armed Forces Day we remember a fundamental truth: freedom is not free. Our nation is strong because of the brave men and women of the United States Armed Forces serving our country. To those serving and to the military families beside them: America is stronger because of you.

Everyday antisemitism grows, and everyday people try and ignore it or worse rationalize it. And as good people remain quiet, just like before, that’s why it spreads.

These are the disgusting antisemitic messages that @RepMoskowitz received. I can personally tell you that I have received similar voicemails and letters in the mail. It’s disgusting. America is better than this.

It was great joining @BlueStarFamily and Mickey himself today to help assemble care packages for military and veteran families around the country. We can never fully repay the sacrifice of our service members, but supporting them and their families is the least we can do.

DHS has grown too big and too bureaucratic. When a department becomes this massive, the mission gets lost. Secret Service, FEMA, and TSA should be focused on their core responsibilities, but instead they're getting buried under DHS bureaucracy. My legislation will fix that.

I want to extend my congratulations to @CameronVA on his nomination to once again lead @FEMA. In a moment when some in the previous Homeland leadership wanted to dismantle FEMA entirely, Cameron stood up to save the agency and was unfairly punished. I look forward to working with him and wish him every success as he takes on this important responsibility.

This National Police Week, I’m proud to stand with the brave men and women who put on the badge every day and risk their lives in service to others. Our law enforcement represent the very best of our country, and we owe them a debt of gratitude that words can never fully repay.

For Teacher Appreciation Week, I was happy to send pizzas to teachers at Marjory Stoneman Douglas and Spanish River High School to thank them for all they do for our students every single day. Teaching the next generation is one of the most important jobs out there, yet teachers often work without the support and recognition they deserve. I’m grateful for everything they do to help shape the next generation and strengthen our community.

Last night I had the pleasure of meeting with my Congressional Youth Cabinet! We were joined by our friends at the Broward County Emergency Operations Center, and together we taught the students about emergency management and what it takes to prepare for and respond to disasters here in South Florida. From hurricanes to large-scale emergencies, we gave students a firsthand look at what goes into keeping our communities safe. Spending time with such thoughtful and engaged young people is always one of the most rewarding parts of this job, and I truly enjoyed the chance to learn from them and answer their questions.

Today I’m introducing a bipartisan reform package that would move Secret Service, FEMA, and TSA out of DHS. This most recent shutdown has proved DHS has grown too big and has become too politicized to function without reform. Smaller agencies within DHS aren’t able to work efficiently and unrelated funding battles are causing longer lines at airports and unpaid shifts for the men and women at Secret Service, FEMA, TSA, and countless others. For too long, Americans have been undermined because of oversized bureaucracy in Washington. That’s unacceptable, and it’s time to fix it.

Hatred against Jews is a virus that continues to spread. I had a plot against my life simply because I’m Jewish. Many in our community have lived with this same reality. The fact that Americans are being threatened, assaulted, or murdered because of their religion is simply unacceptable. We must do better as a country.

Today is the last day for another great group of Moskowitz interns! Our all-star group of Rachel, Shelby, Geena, Caden, and Jennica here in D.C., and Nick and Alexi in our district office did incredible work during a busy Spring semester. Their help keeps the ship running, and any time our interns are gone, we absolutely feel it. We also can’t do a post like this without giving a big thanks to our super intern Anna from the fall cycle. For multiple months, Anna held down the fort on her own, and her work made a real difference during a particularly chaotic time. Our office is nothing without our interns. We can’t thank you enough for all your hard work, and we can’t wait to see what you all go on to do next!

Jewish American Heritage Month is a time to celebrate the story of Jewish Americans: one defined by resilience and a deep belief in building something better for the next generation. That story is still being written today. And with antisemitism on the rise, we have a responsibility to confront it directly and help write the next chapter. As a proud Jewish American, I will never stop standing up for our community and calling out hate wherever it exists.

I’ve been proud to represent Port Everglades since my time as Broward County Commissioner and I’ve seen firsthand how important it is to our community. Honored to be with the Port Everglades Association today and thank those who keep the port running. It’s been a tough year for trade, but make no mistake, I’ll always fight to ensure our ports stay competitive and support the jobs that depend on them.
