@cece_304 @cfuchstv Great job Cecilia! I really enjoyed reading your thread. Queer Arab films and filmmakers deserve more acknowledgement and praise for their works thank you for highlighting some, i'm excited to watch the films you mentioned. @cfuchstv #304F23

Media often overlooks marginalized identities, especially intersectional ones like being queer and Arab. The white LGBTQ+ experience is used as an encompassing meter for what all queer experiences are like, which only forsakes queer POC narratives entirely. @cfuchstv #304F23

@DouglasXaviJ Great job Xavier! I think you make some really great points. I feel like this conversation could almost be extended into the action genre at times, just a repeat intense focus on special effects while everything else is essentially ignored. @cfuchstv #304F23

Ultimately, what people choose to watch is a matter of personal preference, however, if superhero films are going to continue to follow the same recipe then this genre will soon die. Especially when the film industry continues to evolve based on audience demands and tastes.

The new superhero films, specifically Marvel are taking over cinema for the worse. Along with successful franchises, they seem to dominate the box office. Just like any other media on the internet, this seems to be the “trend” when it comes to films in our time. #304F23 @cfuchstv

@MaynardMar25163 @cfuchstv Great job Mariah! I had heard a lot about wandavision in the past but I never sat down and watched it, it is really interesting to learn how sitcoms played a part in the show! @cfuchstv #304F23

The consistency, comfort, connection, and hope found in sitcoms are often something that we lack in our constantly changing everyday life. From the 1950s to the 1990s and beyond, sitcoms have not only Wanda Maximoff’s safe place but America’s safe space! @cfuchstv #304F23

Wanda Vision and the Safety of Sitcoms: Wanda & Vision, a power couple in the Marvel Universe set the backdrop for this eerie dark comedy series which highlights the important role of the American sitcom. So... Let's talk about WANDAVISON! @cfuchstv and #304F23

@NWGMU @cfuchstv Great thread Nataly! The way Brittany is treated is very strange. I think it is interesting how you brought up Taylor Swift as I have seen the way Brittany is being treated almost reflected in the way I have seen football fans speak about Taylor. @cfuchstv #304F23

@oliviaghhh I think the moment w Allie in the first episode is very much an example of girls seeing each other as "competition." Then, as the series progresses, that competition doesn't even matter anymore yet it manifests in a different way in the wilderness nonetheless. #304F23 @cfuchstv

@oliviaghhh As a YJ fan, I loved reading your thread! I had always noticed the theme of girlhood present within the show but I had never made the connection btwn the way the girls resort to cannibalism to survive in the wilderness reflecting that of girls seeing each other as competition

We need more, better lesbian representation and we need to start by representing the underrepresented and straying away from harmful stereotypes and tropes that often plague lesbian media. We have begun to do that and it is a great start but we have to keep it up.

Some of the ways I have seen lesbian representation advancing is with the stories I see being told. We are beginning to see more diverse stories that extend beyond just the romance genre. Such as Bottoms(a comedy) & fear street (horror) which both include Black lesbian MCs.

There is a lack of lesbian representation in media. Specifically, a lack of diverse and accurate representation. There needs to be more of it to combat the underrepresentation & inaccurate portrayals that doom lesbians to awful tropes & harmful stereotypes. @cfuchstv #304F23
