@NeilClark66 Neil, i am due mine in 3 years. Yes i have private pensions but ive paid into something i was told i would receive when i was 60, now i have to wait till am 67. Its NOT a benefit & it should in line with inflation. Its the governements responsibily to manage OUR money

I feel strongly about the state pension and the threats to it because for me how a society treats its elderly is indicative of whether or not it is a good, decent society. And as someone who has been a carer for two very dear elderly parents I’m incensed when I hear commentators or politicians say that the elderly are now a ‘burden’ that ‘we can’t afford’. Old people are never a burden. It’s corrupt politicians- and those who want us to callously cast the elderly aside - who are the problem.

Tony Blair urging pensioner poverty is so wealthy that he will never need a state pension to exist on. Taxpayers enrich him. Tony Blair's take from the taxpayer now,claims his £115,000 a year,eligible until he dies, his gold plated pension, then there is his police protection squad, taxpayers cover all costs £250,000 in expenses and anything between £14,000-£16,000 a week when he travels abroad, there was £700,000 for his farewell tour in 2007. There have been 6 retired PMs since Tony Blair and they are costing the country a fortune if they are receiving similar amounts of taxpayers cash.
