This is ridiculous. Rhena is my friend but states that have done this have realized it was a mistake. Price caps cause shortages. If they want to have an advisory board saying the price should be “x” based on market forces, that’s fine. But when government gets to determine shortages are incoming. Ask @grok.

Eliminating income and property taxes in Virginia beginning with those who earn the least should be the campaign slogan for 2027. On this day 13 years ago, my only son was sworn in to the US Army. In ten days, it will be 12 years since he was killed in Afghanistan 2 weeks before he was due to come home. He was just 21. This week is also Memorial Day. My greatest fear now is that he will be forgotten. Please help me remember my boy during this tough week of special dates (share if you feel inspired. **Yes.** Prescription Drug Affordability Boards (PDABs) that impose upper payment limits (price caps) carry well-documented risks of reduced drug availability and shortages. Pharmacies may stop stocking affected meds, manufacturers can limit supply or exit state markets, and payers may add restrictions—concerns backed by surveys of independent pharmacies and patient groups.
While most states with PDABs are still implementing or expanding them, a few (e.g., New Hampshire dissolved its board, Ohio inactivated its council, Virginia vetoed twice) have stepped back over costs, ineffectiveness at lowering patient out-of-pocket expenses, and market harm. Price controls often distort supply incentives without guaranteeing lower costs at the pharmacy counter. Good veto.

Sen. Creigh Deeds told me Gov. Spanberger called him and said she is going to veto his legislation that would have established a Prescription Drug Affordability Board in Virginia.

Members of the GAB need to pass a bill that funds core government services even if lawmakers can’t agree on non-essential spending. @GovernorVA worked on this in Congress and we could sure use that non-partisan practicality to avoid entire budgets being held hostage in situations like this.
