I loved studying maths. It made me come face to face with my own finitude and intellectual limits, and freely acknowledge those who so clearly surpassed me. My maths education was a great lesson in humility, and probably even made me a better Christian.

one benefit of a math education is you see intellectual stratification even at the very highest levels. pretty much everyone studying math were at one point the smart one in their high school class. yet within weeks you know who the really smart ones are, and it's not close.

I can pretty confidently say that this works 100% of the time. If you convince yourself that you are going to be fine and that things will work out, they on average will because self-doubt just gets torn apart.
None of this stuff is real anyway, just convince yourself.
