DEI is not a "buzzword", it's a literal business/hiring strategy that has a intentional and direct impact on the culture and priorities of a company.
When a company prioritizes identity hiring, the quality of the the product drops (including the features you mention), since by definition you are no longer choosing to hire the most qualified people.
You also alienable a chunk of your audience for no good reason, which further places financial pressure on the studio, since backlash will decrease revenue.

I played destiny 2 since I was 14 It is by far the game that has impacted my life the most and got me through some hard times.I grew up with this game. And it hurts to see it go. I hope Bungie pulls it together and gets something out that can recreate the magic of Destiny one day
