🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 Happy Birthday, England. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 On 12 July 927, King Æthelstan united the English kingdoms, creating what is widely regarded as the birth of England as one nation. Nearly 1,100 years later, England still has no officially recognised national birthday. Perhaps it is time we changed that. A nation with this much history, heritage and identity deserves a day to celebrate its story. Happy birthday, England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

@brucemillington Had to read that twice, Pickford pulled his hand away from their goal as he got his angles all wrong, basic error for a keeper. Anderson was magnificent absolutely ridiculous ratings.

I’m far too old to get riled by player ratings but sometimes you wonder what they were watching. Pickford better than Anderson? It’s just not possible to form that view

Decent 1st half should have had a couple 2nd half ten changes, with Kone, Chair, Mbenge,Clarke salter and Lloyd looking miles off it. Early days, Solomon had a decent game as did most of the young lads. #QPR

The UK last built a public water reservoir in 1992. The population has increased by over 10 million in the intervening years. Including a surge of immigration. Now, the state has the cheek to announce a hosepipe ban. Why is that necessary? Because no infrastructure has been built to cope with the expanding population. It rained for the whole of January but not enough reservoirs to catch the water. Our governments have been absolutely and unrelentingly crap. Short-termist. Only interested in importing cheap labour. Not a care for the people who live here and want things to work as they do in a civilized country. The next reservoir, in Havant, is not scheduled for completion till the early 2030s. Prepare for more hosepipe bans and collapsing sewers. Britain urgently needs an effective ruling class before we slide into a failed state.

🚨 Auditors have REFUSED to sign off the Government’s accounts. That comes directly from the National Audit Office. They’ve issued what’s known as a disclaimer of opinion. That’s audit speak for: “We can’t verify the numbers.” This is the same Government that has: 💰 Put taxes up by £70 billion. 💰 Borrowed £270 billion 💰 Told us there still isn’t enough money to properly fund our Armed Forces. Yet their own auditors are saying they can’t verify the accounts. And remember… This is the same National Audit Office that has found up to £81 billion a year is lost through fraud and error. Can you imagine if this was a private business? It would be shutdown and investigated There are those who want to tax us more and give these people even more money. I have a different idea. How about we start looking into where all the money is actually going? Because if the auditors are refusing to sign off the accounts… …and the National Audit Office says up to £81 billion is lost through fraud and error every year… …perhaps the problem isn’t that taxpayers aren’t paying enough. Perhaps it’s that nobody seems to know where the money is going.

Correct decision as per rules of the game, but destroys the spectacle. If the ref had called either forward pass or in from the side in the same attack it would still be 15v 15 🤷‍♂️ #FIJvENG

Nothing sums up Borthwicks tenure as @EnglandRugbyas picking Slade after zero appearances in the six nations, absolute shambles with little progression. #WearTheRose

Sky News’ Adam Boulton has described murdered former politician Anne Widdecombe as “spinster” and “old maid” going into detail on her private life. Many commentators are calling this rant “vile” and “deeply misogynistic” It’s unclear if he’s received any pushback from the presenter.

@TheLoftInsights @jorisbohnson Could go on all day, let’s see where Kolli is in say three years, I suspect will be lower league abroad or league 1 here. No club wants drama and however you spin it his stats aren’t amazing.

@richburge54 @jorisbohnson Arguably, more favourable to Kolli if we compare Kone and Burrell's L1 to his Championship numbers. But also, here you are using goals per appearance, not per 90, which is an unfair comparison given Kolli played 1000 minutes compared to Kone's 3300. Kone: .27 p90 Kolli: .43 p90

Certainly more to the situation than we know, however I can't help but feel disappointed with how it is unfolding. A 21-year-old academy product, a natural and confident finisher, and a brilliant demonstration of the pathway into the first-team... shown the door. #qpr
William Halliday@WillQPR

Those reading a lot into Kolli's exclusion from the pre season tour aren't wrong. The saga rumbles on for a 3rd summer. Board are keen to cash in given the ongoing issues and the fact they could get a reasonable fee. Relations as bad as they've been (and it's been bad before!).

Seen a few people siding with Kolli over the club, nobody outside the situation knows what the club has to deal with. I’m sure they wouldn’t leave a player out unless it was necessary. 3 successive managers making same decision suggests there’s more to this than meets the eye.

@TheLoftInsights @jorisbohnson Hardly a fair comparison, can only base it on the same league they are in i.e. championship. Kone has 11 in 44 (1 in 4) Burrell has 10 in 27 (1 in 2.7) This against Kolli’s 1 in 10, on that basis along, Kolli is poor, doesn’t include the fact Kolli is hopeless out of possession!

@richburge54 @jorisbohnson It's a fair point although just for clarity on those numbers: comparing goals/90 between Kolli last season and Kone/Burrell in 2024/25: Kone - 0.59 in L1 Burrell - 0.46 in L1 Kolli - 0.43 in Champ Not dissimilar performance, and at a higher level than both Kone and Burrell.

@TheLoftInsights @jorisbohnson Additionally he’s coming up to 22, hardly a young lad and has a record of 10 goals in 59 matches, most of which come in doubles. So again would you sign that same player 1 goal every 6 games and loads of drama?

@richburge54 @jorisbohnson I do understand that he could be seen as overrated, but we can't ignore the fact that he is a 21-year-old academy product with seemingly high potential, already accumulating experience in the Championship. If we signed a player of that profile, I'd imagine many would be happy!

@TheLoftInsights @jorisbohnson Don’t think that’s the point though, would we sign that same player if every year there had been drama around him, deleting QPR stuff then re posting it etc Despite what goes on which fans don’t see?
