Seems to be two-in, two-out in the goalkeeping department, and plenty of promising signs from both of these. 🧤 Get to know our new shot-stoppers with some analysis and Clive's usual wisdom here! #QPR 👇

@KGeorgiev90 Very useful profile to have, and his weaknesses on the ball are essentially minimised when surrounded by Madsen, Edwards, etc. Would need a very good offer to move him on imo.

Jonathan Varane struggled last season with his passing, that’s a fact. But his defensive contributions remained excellent. He’s a hard worker and I trust him to rebound, he’s not an easy profile to replace, knows the team & system too. Definitely should NOT undersell!! #QPR

@SM24_06 Spot on. If sales are needed this summer I'd expect him to be one to go, however we are already light in midfield and he absolutely still has a place in the squad. Plus a good, injury-free season could attract a lot more interest next summer, allowing us to reinvest more freely.

@jorisbohnson Worth noting however, that as an academy product with a potential for sale, Kolli is in a unique position in the squad as a strong financial asset representing 100% profit. As a result the board may be overly keen to shift him on, hence the noise. More info needed to clarify.

@TheLoftInsights The noise around him must be of his own making; it doesn’t seem to occur with any other players in the squad. Not surprising then that the club are keen to sell. So, in fact, no ‘treatment’ at all. Get shot.

Certainly more to the situation than we know, however I can't help but feel disappointed with how it is unfolding. A 21-year-old academy product, a natural and confident finisher, and a brilliant demonstration of the pathway into the first-team... shown the door. #qpr

Those reading a lot into Kolli's exclusion from the pre season tour aren't wrong. The saga rumbles on for a 3rd summer. Board are keen to cash in given the ongoing issues and the fact they could get a reasonable fee. Relations as bad as they've been (and it's been bad before!).

@richburge54 @jorisbohnson Arguably, more favourable to Kolli if we compare Kone and Burrell's L1 to his Championship numbers. But also, here you are using goals per appearance, not per 90, which is an unfair comparison given Kolli played 1000 minutes compared to Kone's 3300. Kone: .27 p90 Kolli: .43 p90

@TheLoftInsights @jorisbohnson Hardly a fair comparison, can only base it on the same league they are in i.e. championship. Kone has 11 in 44 (1 in 4) Burrell has 10 in 27 (1 in 2.7) This against Kolli’s 1 in 10, on that basis along, Kolli is poor, doesn’t include the fact Kolli is hopeless out of possession!

@jorisbohnson Just referring to the noise surrounding him, and what seems to be the club keen to sell (based largely on the quoted tweet). Again, I don't intend to speak with complete certainty, as I only know as much as any other fan.

@AsHDro1d My view was based primarily on the quoted tweet, which I interpreted to suggest the club is pushing towards an exit due to finances rather than disciplinary issues. If that is the case, then I view that as poorly managing what should be one of our most exciting prospects.

@richburge54 @jorisbohnson Very fair, but again this does depend on whether the fault lies with the club or with Kolli primarily. Ultimately, all speculation, but looking at Kolli as a player (all we as fans are privy to), I'd much rather see him stay.

@TheLoftInsights @jorisbohnson Don’t think that’s the point though, would we sign that same player if every year there had been drama around him, deleting QPR stuff then re posting it etc Despite what goes on which fans don’t see?

@richburge54 @jorisbohnson It's a fair point although just for clarity on those numbers: comparing goals/90 between Kolli last season and Kone/Burrell in 2024/25: Kone - 0.59 in L1 Burrell - 0.46 in L1 Kolli - 0.43 in Champ Not dissimilar performance, and at a higher level than both Kone and Burrell.

@TheLoftInsights @jorisbohnson Additionally he’s coming up to 22, hardly a young lad and has a record of 10 goals in 59 matches, most of which come in doubles. So again would you sign that same player 1 goal every 6 games and loads of drama?

@AsHDro1d Has he asked for more money? As far as I know, he signed a long-term contract last Jan, and no updates since? Maybe I've missed something. Ultimately, it's just my opinion on a player I am keen to see succeed, and maybe some more info about the situation will change my view.

@TheLoftInsights Poor from QPR? Mistreatment? What are you on about? We've had NO formal bids for Kolli just him and his dad/agent claiming other teams want him. He flip flops between "I love QPR, I just want to play" and "I want more money and game time" we've given him more money and game time.

@AsHDro1d From what I've seen, there hasn't been much noise surrounding potential interest? I remember seeing that he turned down some offers from big clubs to stay with us, although nothing much else? Ofc we don't know what goes on behind closed doors, but on paper it seems poor from QPR.

@TheLoftInsights How have the club mistreated him though? He throws a strop claiming other clubs want him and he wants more more more so we bench him and then no bids come in then he says he loves QPR and just wants to play so we play him and then he does the same every summer, 3 managers now 🤷

@richburge54 @jorisbohnson I do understand that he could be seen as overrated, but we can't ignore the fact that he is a 21-year-old academy product with seemingly high potential, already accumulating experience in the Championship. If we signed a player of that profile, I'd imagine many would be happy!

@TheLoftInsights @jorisbohnson How exactly has he been treated, despite fans opinions stats aren’t amazing and every year there seems like some hissy fit. Let’s see where he is in say three years, pretty sure you will be disappointed!

@AsHDro1d Definitely possible, however could this difficulty be a product of the club's treatment of him? Possibly a 'chicken or the egg' type scenario, impossible to know without seeing what goes on behind closed doors.

@jorisbohnson Absolutely a possibility, yeah. Would be a real shame if that is the case, however to an extent I can understand if he feels begrudged by his recent treatment (of course, doesn't help his case).

@payno268 Yeah, I do remember thinking that video felt quite awkward/tense. I'd imagine that those videos are largely published to support the image of QPR as a club with a pathway from academy to the first team. Useful when signing younger players to have a good reputation.

@TheLoftInsights What I don’t understand is though why they made such a big point in making the video of him being introduced to the first team changing room if they are gonna push him out the door a couple of months later

@davman1971 From what it seems, it is largely the club looking to cash in on Kolli? He is a marketable asset, and an academy player meaning he represents a 100% profit. He's been here for a long time and clearly loves the club, so it seems unlikely he is keen to leave (at least before this)

@TheLoftInsights Is he being shown the door though or is he openly looking for a new club or holding out for a new contract. All this makes it incredibly odd that he signed a new contract in the middle of all this. I simply cannot believe that the club is ostracising an asset without reason.

Ultimately, DR Congo should be a challenge which England are able to overcome. However, as we saw from Germany against Paraguay, it is important not to underestimate defensive sides in knockout football. As always, thank you for reading this thread, and come on England! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿

Finally, if all else fails, there's always set pieces. England have shown their strength from dead-ball situations, and when struggling to break down defensive teams, set pieces offer a valuable opportunity to create high-quality scoring opportunities.
