@waitbutwhy Ok how about instead of a red and blue button it's a gun. You don't pick it up and pull the trigger you don't die, if you do pick it up and pull the trigger you will die if less than 50% do the same. I'd love to see the results with different wordings.

Everyone in the world has to take a private vote by pressing a red or blue button. If more than 50% of people press the blue button, everyone survives. If less than 50% of people press the blue button, only people who pressed the red button survive. Which button would you press?

Something I've learned the hard way is that a 2x4 isn't actually 2 inches by 4 inches. It used to be, but not anymore because of course.

@Mr_Husky1 You should have taken the $50 back and replaced it with a penny.

My husby and I went out to dinner last night, and the bill came out to $200. I left a $50 tip on the table, thinking that was pretty reasonable. But the waiter looked at it and flat-out refused to take it. He told us that if we weren’t willing to leave at least $85, we shouldn’t be eating out in the first place. I was honestly caught off guard. I felt embarrassed sitting there, like we’d done something wrong. We weren’t trying to be cheap or disrespectful — I genuinely thought $50 was a fair tip for that bill. Now I keep replaying the whole thing in my head, wondering if I misjudged it and questioning whether $50 really wasn’t enough.😱 By Angela mcnutt

Fire in the Sky (1993) deserves more love; it’s one of the smartest alien‑abduction movies ever made. Those final 15 minutes, with Travis treated like a lab rat, are pure nightmare fuel. This film stuck with me for years. If you’ve seen it, you'll know why. If not… watch it.

Be sure to add Sean Byrne's THE LOVED ONES (2009) to your Valentine's Day viewing list. Although not strictly a "Valentine's Day" movie, who cares - it fits, and it's amazing. Oh, and you can read my interview with Robin McLeavy (Lola Stone) here: amazon.com/Screams-New-Mi…

In 2018, Heinz brought out a condiment that was a mix of mayonnaise and ketchup, called ‘Mayochup’. The Grand Chief of a First Nations council pointed out that in their Cree language the name means ‘shit-face’.

@GLabsPlus @Math_files I love this is just like the Monty Hall problem will people will argue with you even after explaining the logic or running simulations showing it's the correct answer. Probability calculations are such a subtle thing!

Mathematician here to explain. There's 27 equally likely cases: Tuesday boy followed by a girl for each of the 7 days. A girl for each of the 7 days followed by Tuesday boy. Tuesday boy followed by a boy for each of the 6 non-Tueaday days. A boy for each of the 6 non-Tuesday day followed by Tuesday boy. Tuesday boy followed by another Tuesday boy. 7+7+6+6+1=27 Of all those cases, 14 include a girl. 14/27 = 0.5185 = 51.85%

@FinanceLancelot It's not free. You still have to build out the infrastructure and that is a challenge in a remote frozen place. It's a bit more accessible than the space for the moment but I think space is going to win out.

@The_Astral_ This is one my favorites scenes from anything ever! Also free will doesn't exist regardless of the universe being deterministic or not.If the universe were random it's not like you're picking the events either! Free will isn't a logically coherent concept. Free Will by Sam Harris

Wild scene in ‘DEVS’ where they use a quantum supercomputer to see back in time a billion years and then one second into the future. 👀 This show asks the question: if reality is fully deterministic, do we actually have free will at all?
