@MJonSP @ONT_Dad In terms of the Cdn government's pandemic response, you seem to be confusing stupidity and incompetence with compassion and morality.

@ONT_Dad Trudeau navigated Canada through a global pandemic with civility and compassion. Money to people to prevent much personal hardship. If some took unfair advantage of that . That's unCanadian behaviour and that's on them. Conservative 1%ers want the other 99% to blame each other.

Y'all. I've been trying to grow my content creation over on IG... but... I just don't know. I really get the vibe that a learning community that wants to talk about improving assessment and grading is NOT there. Is it just me?

No. The policy that you support starts with the false assumption that children are chattel - possessions of their parents with no rights of their own. Religion needs 'father knows best' to survive. State institutions strive to protect individuals from ALL FORMS of indoctrination.

@pcembleton This policy you support starts with the false assumption that all parents are abusers.

I’ve never seen a mug shot used so effectively to send a message. Sure, I’ve seen scary dudes, but Trump is saying he’s not backing down with this shot. He’s sending a message to his base and a warning to his enemies.

It has been an exceptional four years...starting this program and seeing our first class of graduates off. This is as good a time as any to say that I'm stepping into a new role in September. One of 18 Instructional Partners for HDSB with a focus on destreaming. I'm excited.

We need to meet them where they are, and help them see a way forward. Even if that doesn’t include school. Our young people are listening, and they believe us. Let’s tell them something worth hearing. School isn't the only way to get an education. 7/

After learning more about learning disabilities from a psychologist today, I Googled "neurodiversity". If you are a teacher, please read this article. It reminds me that we need #creative + #inclusive education, which starts with our view of learning: bbc.com/future/article…

Learning is infectious. Kids are more likely to catch the learning virus from each other than they will from teachers. Teachers, when it comes to learning, give kids a chance to infect each other. Make learning go viral!

Statistics can never be completely objective. This is not just my opinion. It's a *mathematical* fact. Read on if you want to learn a deep fundamental truth about data and its relationship to the universe we live in.

Not sure I've ever read a better short take on the fatal flaw of accountability-based school reform - "the most efficient tool ever devised to destroy a student’s interest in learning" - as this one by @DLabaree. He zeroes in on the difference between effectiveness and efficiency

@natabasso Success criteria for Change Agents in education: Your work ... - makes life and learning better, - builds Community, - builds Agency, and - builds Expertise. These impacts are for people across the educational community but successful Change Agents start where they are.

@MrHambley I agree that many Ss don't know what's good for them. Ts gotta be careful. Parents determine what's "good". "In loco parentis" means Ts act in Ps' absence. Doesn't extend to excusing Ss from class activities. P's can't tell T's what or how to teach but they can pull their kids.

@rickpardo It’s a really interesting tipping point in the classroom. Since for most Gr 10 dissection is their first many wouldn’t even ‘know’ what’s good for them. That being said, I’ve had the most code blues from dissections so if they want to stay home it would also limit my anxiety!

Did I make a mistake by telling my class that we are doing a sheep eye dissection this week? B/c I’ve got multiple emails from parents saying that they are signing their children out of class on the day. So…question: do you give students the heads up that a dissection is coming?
