@msampathila @dmuthuk Forget Japan. Just visit a Japanese factory in India and you'll find the same discipline there. It's amazing how they have taught the Indians (even blue collar factory workers) this discipline & way of life. My mind boggles every time I visit a Japanese factory in India.

Once again sharing few things I wrote about Japan last year: Very friendly people. Extremely clean country. Their public toilets are so clean, hygienic and tidy. Not all of us can maintain such standards even at our own homes. Zero trash. A very high trust society. Their love for Indians are evident. Nice places to see. 80 years before they were totally destroyed. How amazingly they have rebuilt the entire nation. In general, no one cheats you. Neither a street side vendor nor a cab driver. People greet you and thank you profusely. Shintoism and Buddhism accounts for more than 95% of the country's population. Shintoism is extremely similar to Hinduism. Most Japanese practice blend of both Shintoism and Buddhism. It is not exaggeration if the bullet train is at 10.03 am means, it is precisely 10.03 am. Nothing is late. Everything is on time. They have not only become an economic power but role model for cleanliness, trust, discipline and safety. One of the lowest crime rates in the world. Even women travelers visiting Japan can explore the cities in midnight. Did not see a single traffic police or cop during the our stay in Japan. May sound exaggeration but the truth is no one violate any traffic rules. Being a high trust society, the role of the cops are less. Bullet train stations, shrines and many public places are hugely crowded. Thousands and thousands of people assemble in very small area. You've to see the crowd at places like Shibuya crossing in Tokyo to believe it. You'll see no cop anywhere for crowd control. People automatically follow queue everywhere. What you've heard is not exaggeration. If your cab time is 10 am and you are 2 minutes late, you would have missed the cab and have to look for next. There are instances where bullet train drivers have apologised for being half a minute late. The nation values punctuality a lot and it is non negotiable. Many people live well beyond 100. The average life expectancy for women is 88 and for men is 84. Generally people look and act fit. They walk a lot. Really surprising how discipline, cleanliness and trust comes so naturally to them. Japanese have the highest IQ in the world too. Few people from our group went separately in the middle of the night to Shibuya crossing to witness night life there. They lost their way. An elderly Japanese gentleman walked with them close to one kilometer to railway station, waited for them to board train going to right direction, mentioned how many stations after which they should get down and then only left. How many of us would do this to strangers at middle of the night? A small boy, may be 3 or 4 years old, dropped a piece of ice cream wrapper on the ground in the bullet train station. The Japanese man following him immediately picked the trash, seeing no trash can near by, put it in his pocket to dispose of later. As I said before, your ignorance is never exploited, not even by a street vendor or a cab driver. Your lack of awareness about pricing in the local economy, never make Japanese merchants exploit you. They don't even charge a yen more than what is actually due to them. No pick pockets, stealing or any safety issues. Almost zero crime. I'm unable to understand how they have made such a large nation practice ethics, cleanliness, discipline, trust, safety and courteous behaviour. Though it may be automatic for them, how much they wish and bow. More than economic prosperity, this national DNA appears miraculous. What is very striking is the poorest of Japanese people have better quality of life than richest of Indians.

@ShivrattanDhil1 Loosing weight is calorie deficit, achieved by your diet. Body burns muscle first fat later when you are on deficit but not strength training . Strength training is to ensure that you don't lose muscle. Weight loss can be achieved by diet only. But Fat loss is achd by Diet + Gym

Just curious about this nutritionist trend these days! Almost everyone I meet says they’ve started consulting a nutritionist and have lost 10–15 kg. Is it really possible to see such results with just a proper diet plan? Has the gym culture started slowing down, or are people now focusing more on nutrition than workouts?

Indians once made a movie called Mohenjodaro. It was a terrible movie but that aside the city was called Mohenjodaro in it - there was even a song with that name. Poor film makers didn’t get that Mohenjodaro means Mound of the Dead and was a name given to the site long afterwards.

A 30-year-old guy was looking for matches on Shaadi.com for an arranged marriage. Recently he matched with a 27 year old girl. She works in finance and earns about 36 LPA while the guy earns 40 LPA. The girl is well educated and they have been getting to know each other for a few months. After talking for 2 months they met around 8 times in 3 months. They both felt good compatibility. The girl is genuinely kind down to earth, and very gud to talk to. Her mother is an advocate in the High Court and her biological father is a senior director in Railways. But her parents are separated. Later her mother married a Muslim man. But the girl has no relationship with her mother’s second husband and she doesn’t like him at all. She is close to both her mother and her biological father. The girl herself is a practicing Hindu, and her biological parents are also Hindu. She clearly told the guy that she has no connection with her mothers husband. After talking for about 6 months the girl told her mother about the guy. Her mother said, “We’ll decide after meeting him, but if you like him then it’s okay.” When the guy told his parents about the girl they liked the match at first after seeing her photo and education. But as soon as they found out about her family background, they immediately rejected the proposal. They had no other reason to say no to the girl Now the guy is very confused because he has started to really like the girl. What do you think — should the guy marry that girl or not?

I spoke with Ms Lyng - the Norwegian journalist who shouted a Q when Prime Minister Støre and PM Modi were addressing. I asked her how much she knew about India- given the fact that she made sweeping allegations. among other things, Ms Lyng told me that she hasn't been to India and her exposure is primarily through Indian curries and yoga. Listen in to the whole conversation : youtube.com/watch?v=JkLYSH…

Gaurie Dwivedi@GaurieD

Norway's journalist invoked the 'freest press in the world' at PM Modi in Oslo. Before Oslo lectures New Delhi on accountability, take a look at their own record. -In 2016, Norway signed a normalization pact with China that included a formal government pledge that it "attaches high importance to China's core interests and major concerns" and "will not support actions that undermine them." Norway's youth parties called it what it was — a formal renunciation of the right to criticize Chinese authorities. This was the price of resumed trade talks with Beijing after a 6-year pause. What triggered that 6-year freeze? Norway's Nobel Committee gave the Peace Prize to Chinese dissident Liu Xiaobo in 2010. So China punished Oslo diplomatically and economically — stopped buying Norwegian salmon. And Oslo eventually capitulated. -In 2018, Norway's King and Queen visited China and claimed they were unaware of Xinjiang's internment camps — in 2018, when international documentation of mass detention was extensive. So you see, all this talk of 'human rights', 'press freedom' and other such fancy phrases are hollow and hypocritical. -Norway's own Helsinki Committee urged its government in 2022 to increase pressure on China over Xinjiang. The government did not comply. -In September 2024, PM Støre flew to Beijing, met Xi Jinping, and returned with 15-day visa-free access for Norwegian citizens. The official Chinese readout quoted Støre saying China's "development is full of vitality and has significant successful experience." Norway pledged again to respect China's "core interests." Human rights got a one-line mention vague enough to mean nothing. -Aftenposten — Norway's newspaper of record — has itself acknowledged that every time it published something critical of Beijing or positive about Taiwan, its website was blocked in China for two weeks. Did this issue ever get raised diplomatically? A journalist from a country whose government formally pledged not to challenge Beijing's core interests, whose royal family pleaded 'ignorance' about Xinjiang in 2018, whose PM flew to Beijing and praised Xi's 'vitality' in 2024, and whose flagship newspaper self-censored under Chinese pressure — invoking press freedom as a unilateral moral standard against a democratically elected leader of 1.4 billion people — is HYPOCRISY 101. Press freedom is a principle. Oslo needs to prove it actually deserves it's number 1 ranking before lecturing others.

@ananyashasau Yeah. The cop was a lady, she tried to ask for money but couldn't say it directly, kept on beating the bush. I patiently listened to her story for 30 mins straight. She got frustrated and cleared the paper 😂 other time there was a male, he asked 1000 upfront, I paid.

@tweetmrthin @volklub Using 1.0 turbo Venue since 2.5 yrs. 50% city & 50 highway. City mileage is around 13 and highway mileage is around 18-20. Sometimes it goes higher in highway if you drive around 80km... I drive fast generally, between 100-110. So far a nice car.

Budget 1.2 Venue starts from 7.99 lakh and a finely loaded kit HX5 variant is priced 9.54 lakh. This is the primary budget a normal customer has these days with 6-7 lakh loan amount and getting a car from a brand that has good reliability, reach & support and resale. He also thinks that 1200 cc is a bigger engine than 1000 cc petrol turbo. That’s the bottom line.
Autocar India@autocarindiamag

The 1.2-litre petrol manual version of the @HyundaiIndia Venue accounts for a massive 63% of total sales. What exactly makes this such a strong seller? We finally got our hands on one to find out. Tap below: autocarindia.com/car-reviews/hy…

Yesterday was a long day. I was called for questioning in connection with a case that I believed had no merit, and I attended the questioning to present my version. However, the police arrested me at 5.30 PM. I was granted bail at 10 PM, and the Hon’ble Duty Judge clearly stated that he saw no offence in the case. He also said that he saw no mens rea and failed to understand why I had even been arrested. Grateful to @RaviSharmaTalks and @sidcool2302, the wonderful lawyers who helped me through this. Thankful to the many people, both online and offline, who supported me. I’m truly grateful. Of course, there are many who dislike you and use such opportunities to strike harder when you are down, but that’s fair game. It was your day, and you took it. I can take those blows and come back. At times like these, one realises the importance of ideological support. The people who stood by me at the most crucial juncture were neither close friends nor relatives, but those with whom I am bound by ideology. And it delivered for me when it mattered most. This incident has added many new layers of perspective, most importantly the ones we usually miss in the melee of day-to-day social media discourse. I’ll write about the specifics of this case another day. For now, I just want to say thank you so much to everyone who has been a well-wisher. I’m grateful. Thank you for monitoring the situation.

A relative of mine got a brand new Hyundai Creta in his wedding. Not demanded. Not asked. Just a gift from the bride’s family to their son in law. The guy is already well settled. Professor in a university. Family business. Already owns an Innova Crysta. So after 4 months, he decided to sell the Creta because it was barely being used and buy a small hatchback like Swift or WagonR for daily city driving. The moment he started talking to dealers, his wife stopped the deal and said: This is MY car. Papa gave it to ME. Who are you to sell it? If you want another car then buy it with your own money. Huge argument happened. Then the husband called his in laws. And surprisingly, her own parents said: We gave that car to our damad ji, not our daughter. He can sell it, break it, or throw it away if he wants. After hearing this, the husband silently handed over the keys to his wife and left for university. Hasn’t spoken to her for the last 3 days. Crazy how a marriage can go from wedding vows to cold war over a car in just 4 months. Sometimes marriages don’t fail because of lack of money. They fail because ego enters before understanding. Who do you think was wrong here?
