..has been hid like a shameful mistake, no lessons have been learnt & instead the sick communalism leading up to it has been used again and again by politicians. We need way more movies like Main Vaapas Aaunga @1mti4z_ali

Why Main Vaapis Aaunga is such an important film: Hindu Muslim animosity led to Partition & the Holocaust led to World War 2 at the same time. Both caused terrible losses. But the later was condemned, learnt from & covered in so many books & movies. But the former..

Ladies, if you want to watch a superwoman, feminist film, skip Alpha & watch The Shape of Momo. A heroine carrying the entire film in oversized plain sweatshirts, firing through every societal structure & ending up disillusioned was truly heroic to watch.

The stupidest of acts sometimes turn out to be so brave. I hope Zeeshan and Irum can reunite soon.
sumir kaul@sumirkaul

He was only 22, suffocating under intense family pressure in Muzaffarabad in PoK and slipping into a deep depression, when a notification lit up his phone. Her name was Irum Bano. They connected on Snapchat, and soon, a digital bond became his only lifeline. In an unbelievable twist of fate, they discovered that Zeeshan’s ancestors had actually migrated from the exact same border village where Irum lived—Tulwari, just across the Line of Control. Finding solace in their shared roots, they hatched a desperate, heartbreakingly naive plan to be together. Irum told him to stop suffering. The plan? Cross the heavily fortified border, surrender directly to the Indian Army, serve the legal sentence for illegal entry, and upon release, legally claim his ancestral land to build a life with her. On Saturday night, driven entirely by love and the promise of a fresh start, Zeeshan made the terrifying trek across the wire. Alert Chinar Warriors intercepted him in the dark. Crucially, troops exercised maximum restraint, capturing him safely without firing a shot. Now, Irum is pleading with authorities for leniency, begging them to let him stay. Security forces are doing their due diligence to rule out any hidden angles, but at its core, this is a raw, modern tragedy of a boy who risked everything to cross one of the world's most dangerous borders—all for a girl, a smartphone connection, and a piece of land his grandfather once called home. 🧵 #Kashmir #HumanStory #ModernLove #LineOfControl We write at @PTI_News PoK youth crosses LoC after social media romance, apprehended by Army - The Economic Times m.economictimes.com/news/india/pok…

@Wangchuk66 There are several Indian companies that offer similar audio products. Is there a particular reason for giving attention to an American brand?? Also, the cost of these headphones is equivalent to what many families in India spend on essential food supplies for months.

I'M STILL FINE BUT IT'S VERY NOISY HERE I used to have these noise cancelling WIRED earphones (Quiet Comfort 20 by BOSE). But I lost it during travel. And the model is so old that it's discontinued & nowhere available for sale. If any of you know of someone who has these lying unused in some cupboard please let us know in comments or DM, I'll be happy to pay appropriate price 🙏. Please note I'm not looking for blue tooth earphones.

Gurgaon motorcyclists drive like maniacs, and frequently ram into cars. Because they know they can play the poor card & the car driver will always be blamed in an accident. They are maniacs on the road. #gurgaon

@VishalBhargava5 The club was hijacked by the govt. Then the Polo Club. A hole of the Air Force golf club has now been shut. The govt has taken the properties for its secretive purposes. PMs of UK & US live in modest properties, our PM already has 3 Lutyen houses, how much more land does he need?

Delhi Gymkhana: Be Careful What You Wish For I have never been to Delhi Gymkhana and have my own issues with the way elite clubs in India are run. But we must be careful what we wish for. Many are revelling in the fact that Delhi Gymkhana is on the verge of being taken over. Their logic is clear: It is on public land at subsidized rates that is not open to public. The logic is sound but if you adopt that principle you will realise that there are many whose properties can be taken over. Many will realise that even their homes are on land that is given on subsidized rents. In Mumbai - that is as much a norm as it is an exception. Homes are built on collector land/port trust land/leasehold land where residents are paying much lesser than they should be. In many cases - the purpose of giving the land and its actual usage are very different. To any observer the violation will be apparent. So yes - its fine to revel in an elite bastion being put on notice. But don't get carried away with the principle. Your own asset may be next.

@TajinderBagga Atleast the club was a source of entertainment for 1000s of members and a livelihood for staff. It was a beautiful & elegantly managed property reminding of bygone traditions. The govt has now hijacked the land & will use it for its private & even more privileged purposes.

@barkhatrehan16 The guy purchased her lawyer. The poor girl had to get another lawyer who wasn’t prepared. Meanwhile he also filed a false criminal complaint against her. He transferred his own house to his sister so the wife couldn’t claim that as well.

@barkhatrehan16 Not everyone gets this. My friend was thrown out of her in laws house & her husband’s salary is Rs 5.5 lakhs per month. Court asked him to pay Rs 45K/ month which he hasn’t paid till now. They stole all her jewellery too. They aren’t even divorced. I can DM you the details.

A couple in Pune divorced after just 6 months. • Wife's salary: ₹1.41 Lakh/mo • Husband's salary: ₹2.79 Lakh/mo (supports parents) • Court ordered husband to pay ₹1.35 Lakh/mo maintenance. Now the wife gets ₹2.76 Lakh/mo and the husband is left with ₹1.44 Lakh/mo. If both spouses are highly paid working professionals, what is the justification for such hefty maintenance? Shouldn't financial independence eliminate or reduce alimony? What are your thoughts? 👇🏽 #LegalSystem #DivorceLaws #India

I was walking on a pavement in our millennium city Gurugram/ Gurgaon. I was stopped short by my father who told me I was about to fall into this giant pothole. There is no sign or structure around it. It’s an open invitation to make a human fall into it. @cmohry

When we pay online, the payment gets deducted in seconds. When companies return our money why do they take 3-5 business days?!
