Regretfully, TasInsure can not provide contents insurance to the newly minted member for Bass, as even though we have discussed with Lloyds of London this afternoon, the value of this tie is beyond the risk appetite of either institution #politas

Tasmania's male MPs have now got themselves some real competition in the necktie stakes #politas

@shannon_wells @BuchananLiz SPOT IV is doing well to be moored in Europe whilst also doing 14.6 knots past South Africa

Meanwhile, Tasmania’s ferries remain moored in Europe 🤦🏻♀️

@MarcusProud @LukeMartin1983 Would it be Standard & Poors that give TasInsure their rating before they can trade? Or maybe Moodys?

@MarcusProud @LukeMartin1983 Will TasInsure collect GST and Stamp Duty and Fire Service Levies for State and Federal contributions like traditional insurance companies?

No business case or financial modelling to say how businesses are going to save 20% on their premiums. ….

@MarcusProud @LukeMartin1983 Would TasInsure be immune to inflation if parts and labour to rebuild a home increase?

@MarcusProud @LukeMartin1983 What Loss Ratio does TasInsure expect to achieve and maintain in years 1 & 3 & 10 to avoid going into liquidation like the Catholic Church Insurance scheme did in 2024 that impacted so many Tasmania organisations?

@MarcusProud @LukeMartin1983 Will TasInsure be regulated by APRA and ASIC to ensure that Tasmania clients are treated fairly and are able to raise legitimate disputes if required?

@MarcusProud @LukeMartin1983 Will MAIB also purchase reinsurance for TasInsure clients?

@MarcusProud @LukeMartin1983 If TasInsure suffer a spate of significant claims and erodes the MAIB funds, how will this be replenished?
English

@MarcusProud @LukeMartin1983 And like Marcus said, who will create the policy wordings that TasInsure will require to ensure that clients are aware what is insured, and what is not insured?
English

@MarcusProud @LukeMartin1983 Im also curious who will manage routine claims and major catastrophe claims for TasInsure clients when they occur?
English

@MarcusProud @LukeMartin1983 I wonder who will administer new enquires and renewals for TasInsure clients?
English

@jeremyrockliff I wonder if #TasInsure could manage the 03.01.13 Peninsula Bushfire catastrophe event that according to @ICAUS had a $184,800,000 Normalised Loss Value. Same goes for the Hobart Flood catastrophe event from 11.05.18 that had a $147,800,000 Normalised Loss Value cc @MonteBovill

Good morning everyone, an important update from me.
It's the most significant announcement that we will make this election.
As I travel around Tassie, one of the things that keeps coming up is the cost of insurance.
It feels like every time there are floods and cyclones on the Mainland, Tasmanian premiums go up.
Every time there’s a crime wave in Victoria, Tasmanian premiums go up.
Today, we’re going to put an end to that.
We will be launching TasInsure, a Tasmanian-owned insurance company.
It will be able to cover everything from home and contents, to community clubs, small businesses and farm insurance too.
And it will be cheaper and easier to access than anything else in the market.
We expect it will save Tasmanian households hundreds of dollars a year.
And small businesses, even more.
Which means lower prices for you.
It will be cheaper, it will be fairer.
And it will be ours.
So let's get on with it.
Let’s finish the job for Tasmania.
